Special day with Elephants and falls. - We had a wonderful day with Tony as our guide. We stopped at a Hmong village which I was really interested in. Next we went to the falls, which were beautiful to see and we walked the 542 steps to the top. The very special part about this tour is going to the Elephant sanctuary. We had fun feeding the elephants and watching them enjoy their bath in the river. Tony was an excellent guide throughout the day and we learned a lot about Laos. A great day and we would recommend it to anyone!

A very special Elephant Day! - This was the most amazing day, which we will never forget! We started with an early morning visit to the beautiful Kuang falls ahead of all the crowds. So fabulous to view the falls and take a solo swim! Stunning start to the day. The Elephant village is a truely ethical conservation project and the Elephants are well looked after and spend time free in the forest living a natural life after being rescued from hard work & tourism abuse. The village is in a beautiful setting and very peaceful and quiet. Tony our guide was excellent, he was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic to teach us about the care and history of the elephants. He spoke very good English and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. We spent time feeding the elephants bananas, including a fairly newly arrived baby Elephant. We followed them to the river where, for an extra fee (very well worth it!) we joined the keepers in washing them. Such an amazing experience including being sprayed by the elephant! We were very excited to spend time with the elephants and were not disappointed at all. It's a truly magical day with no hard sell or wasted time. We loved every minute and can't stop smiling! Couldn't have been any better, we're sure this will be the highlight of our trip!

100% recommendation - We had a wonderful day with the elephants. It was nice to be able to be so close to the animals without (hopefully) stressing them out. The Kuang Si Waterfall is also absolutely worthwhile. And as a little add-on there was another very interesting visit to a Hmong village.

One of the best days ever! - Our guide Tony was well organised, spoke excellent English and had devised a full and enjoyable itinerary. An early pick up allowed us to enjoy the Elephant Village before any other tourists arrived. Bathing the elephants in the river was an undoubted highlight of our trip so far (extra cost) Feeding the elephants and getting up close to them was an experience we will never forget. The conservation work within the village was well explained by Tony including the elephant hospital and paper making from elephant dung! On our way to Kuang Si waterfall, we stopped at a Hmong village where the guide Bon gave us an excellent explanation of Hmong life with the opportunity to operate equipment used by the Hmong to grind corn, de-husk rice and fire arrows from a hunting crossbow. This was a brilliant insight into Hmong life culminating in a guided tour around a typical Hmong house. From there, we drove to the Kuang Si waterfall. Do not be put off by the number of tour vans in the car park, the waterfall area is vast and only a small number of people actually swim in the beautiful turquoise water. Do tackle the 542 steps to the top and do pay the extra 30,000 Kip to access the viewing platform while enjoying a well earned coffee at the View Cafe. We enjoyed a light lunch at one of the many BBQ stalls in the base station area. An unexpected bonus was the Asian Black Bear or Moon Bear reserve which you walk through on the way to the falls. On our way back we stopped to enjoy some buffalo milk ice cream which was delicious but be warned, portions are generous! Although not part of the tour itinerary Tony explained that it was Hmong New Year and that a big festival was being held over 4 days to celebrate, would we like to go? Of course we said yes, and so enjoyed another unexpected bonus. Many of the Hmong were wearing traditional dress presenting a highly colourful spectacle. Throughout the day Tony and our driver Mong were fantastic company and made our day so very special. Ever willing to take pictures and to guard our bags when we went swimming, Tony was awesome! Mong's ability to navigate the potholes on the local roads proved her driving skills beyond doubt. A great combination of guide and driver.

Wonderful day exploring Laos! - What a great day! We've done a few day trip excursions around southeast Asia and this is definitely one of the best. We were picked-up early to ensure we arrived in time to see the elephants being bathed (the few other tour groups that arrived later all missed this). The elephant sanctuary is off the beaten path but so gorgeous and serene. There were maybe 6 other people there total. Then, we went to the waterfalls and our guide timed our trip perfectly to avoid the hords of tourist busses. When we arrived, the parking lot (and thus falls) were nearly empty but by the time we left, it was getting crowded and the parking lot was full. Our guide even stopped on the drive back to let us get water buffalo ice cream and take photos of the rice fields since we had mentioned them on the drive out. Definitlely recommend!!

Disappointing experience with the day tour - We booked the day tour for 115 € per person, but it already ended at 14:00. The price seems disproportionately high. The tour included the Kuang-Si waterfalls (admission 60,000 Kip) and an elephant feeding (approximately 350,000 Kip admission). Both places could also be reached by a tuktuk, the guide Tony was very nice but is not necessary for this tour. In addition, the elephant washing in the river listed in the scope of services did not take place. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the tour to anyone at this price, nor would I book it again, as they are organized at a fraction of the price themselves.
