Nice horses beautiful views. - As a horse owner I always start with the condition of the horses. Our horses were well fed and in good body condition. They were also not deadhead follow the leader horses. The beach ride was spectacular. We saw a whale breach and several tail fins. That on top of jumping marlin. During the mountain portion of the ride we came across a small herd of wild burros including three foals. Our guide told us about the various cactus, scrub tress, and bushes. Very enjoyable couple of hours.

Our son hugged the guide at the end — that says it all! - We did the private 2-hour horseback riding tour with Cactus Tours and it ended up being one of our favorite things we did in Cabo. Our guide Hector was awesome — funny, easygoing, and super patient with us since we’re not experienced riders. He kept us laughing and made sure everyone was comfortable the whole time. The views were beautiful and the horses were calm and well cared for. My son was so happy at the end that he gave Hector a big hug! That pretty much sums it up. If you get the chance to go riding, definitely ask for Hector. He really made the experience special for our family.

We saw baby turtles!!! - We recently did the horseback riding in Cabo. It was amazing. Had an excellent guide, Luis G. He was with us a few minutes after checking in all the way to the end. Went over a few safety items with us and then we headed over to the horses. The facilities were very nice. Had a nice large bus pick us up right next to the docks as we were visiting while on our cruise. Luis took us through how to guide the horses before we started getting us all comfortable before we started. Took us up through the desert and identified the different cactus' in the area. Then took us down to the beach. The real highlight for us was being able to see brand newly hatched turtles walking across the sand making their way to the ocean. Then back to the complex. He then took us up to the main offices where we were offered Tequila tasting and the photographs that they took of us. Really the saddest part is they don't allow you to take your own photographs. If you want photos of your experience you have to pay $150 of the photos that they take of you. Other than the price gauging for the photos it was a great experience. The price of the photos was because we had 4 in our group. More people more cost for the photos.

Hidden charges - It was a great family activity . However, there were several hidden charges. Ended costing up WAY more than we had planned. You don’t find out until you arrive. It was a 30 minute drive from our hotel RIU. They said it was $85 for 2 1/2 hours. That included travel time and waiting in line then they told us we couldn’t use our cell phones but if we paid each $35 more we could carry our cell phones on the ride to take our own pictures. We each had to pay an additional $25 fee when we arrived. We got our own pictures and they still wanted us to pay another $150 for the pictures that a lady Took on a four wheeler following us the whole time ruining our pictures. The helmets were hot and uncomfortable we were experienced riders but still had to wear them . Our guide was super nice and friendly. We just didn’t like all the hidden cost we had to pay. It ended up being extremely expensive for only riding for an hour.

Horse treatment at Cactus Tours - I am writing this on behalf of a friend who went as part of his honeymoon the week of 9/5/25. He's continuing on his celebration so I said I would pass along the info so he didn't need to worry about it. He grew up around horses and stated that it was clear the horses through Cactus tours were not well-treated. They never noticed water given to the horses, despite the very high temperatures (100 degrees). They also seemed afraid at the slightest rein pull - making him suspicious of mistreatment. He noticed how they seemed downtrodden and just walking the steps they have been trained to follow. They claim the horses are rescued from abusive situations, but horses who are "rescued from abuse" should NEVER be made to work tours. It doesn't even make sense. If you must do a horse tour, find one that is ethical.
