I would do this tour again. - Cactus Tours was an incredible experience. My nephew and I rode horses, and the guides were outstanding. Luis took great care of us from the moment we got off the Royal Princess all the way through the end of the tour. Cesar and Antura were our horseback riding guides, they were fantastic. Everything was well organized, the instructions were clear, and the entire experience went smoothly. We also spent time at the beach and had the chance to connect with others in our group while having a drink.

Nice horses beautiful views. - As a horse owner I always start with the condition of the horses. Our horses were well fed and in good body condition. They were also not deadhead follow the leader horses. The beach ride was spectacular. We saw a whale breach and several tail fins. That on top of jumping marlin. During the mountain portion of the ride we came across a small herd of wild burros including three foals. Our guide told us about the various cactus, scrub tress, and bushes. Very enjoyable couple of hours.

Our son hugged the guide at the end — that says it all! - We did the private 2-hour horseback riding tour with Cactus Tours and it ended up being one of our favorite things we did in Cabo. Our guide Hector was awesome — funny, easygoing, and super patient with us since we’re not experienced riders. He kept us laughing and made sure everyone was comfortable the whole time. The views were beautiful and the horses were calm and well cared for. My son was so happy at the end that he gave Hector a big hug! That pretty much sums it up. If you get the chance to go riding, definitely ask for Hector. He really made the experience special for our family.

Hidden charges - It was a great family activity . However, there were several hidden charges. Ended costing up WAY more than we had planned. You don’t find out until you arrive. It was a 30 minute drive from our hotel RIU. They said it was $85 for 2 1/2 hours. That included travel time and waiting in line then they told us we couldn’t use our cell phones but if we paid each $35 more we could carry our cell phones on the ride to take our own pictures. We each had to pay an additional $25 fee when we arrived. We got our own pictures and they still wanted us to pay another $150 for the pictures that a lady Took on a four wheeler following us the whole time ruining our pictures. The helmets were hot and uncomfortable we were experienced riders but still had to wear them . Our guide was super nice and friendly. We just didn’t like all the hidden cost we had to pay. It ended up being extremely expensive for only riding for an hour.

Ripped off - To preface this I will say my guide was very nice. However I booked a 2 hour “intermediate to advanced” horseback riding tour which stated it would be 2 hours long. On top of that, since you can’t take photos on your own camera or bring it, I opted to pay $150 extra for a private tour. Well, first off - I got there and they told me that even though I had riding experience (I’ve taken lessons, gone to plenty of ranches on vacation, not uncomfortable at all at a faster pace) I couldn’t do more than walking. This was the whole reason I booked the tour! If I knew I’d just be walking butt to butt with another horse I wouldn’t have even gone. Even on their website and photos at the place they show people galloping or at least trotting. I’m not sure why the offer an “intermediate to advanced” ride if it doesn’t exist, apparently. Second off - bringing my phone. There is a professional camera person that drives around following you in an ATV taking your pictures. Which is fine! But I also paid $150 to be able to bring my own phone so I felt weird taking many photos since I was also planning on buying their package anyway too. The ride was only at most an hour long, not two hours, and most of the time my guide spent it smacking his horse in the butt because it didn’t want to move. So yeah. Once I finished the ride, I at least wanted to take a selfie with my horse (I was going to buy their photo package but I paid to have my phone too for $150!!) and my guide told me I “wasn’t allowed” to take any photos of me and my horse because “he would get fired”. It made absolutely no sense. Like I can’t even take ONE PHOTO? What did I even pay extra for? The whole experience left me pretty bummed and feeling ripped off. The experience wasn’t what I paid for, and I ended up paying around $200 for this “ride” and then paid $104 for my “photos” - it just seems super scammy to me. Had I known that this ride was going to be walking only behind a guide just hitting his horse with a rope for an hour straight and I CANT EVEN USE MY PHONE TO GET ONE PHOTO WITH MY HORSE AFTER. Not worth it. The whole experience was extremely frustrating.
