• Atwater Village - The tour begins on tranquil residential streets heading towards the LA River.

• Los Angeles River - The tour enters the river at the new car-free “Red Car Pedestrian Bridge,” named after the historic Red Car Rail Trolleys that crossed the L.A. River here over 60 years ago. This new metal bridge, adorned with red stripes, is exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists. Participants will learn about the LA River, a vital resource in Los Angeles’ early history, providing essential water in this arid region. Without it, LA would not exist. The tour will pause under the Hyperion Bridge, a replica of which is also in Disneyland. Walt Disney lived nearby in Los Feliz, where he created Mickey Mouse in his aunt and uncle’s garage. He later opened his first studio in Silver Lake and was a regular at Tam O’Shanter, table 31, in Atwater Village. Built in the late 1920s and early 1930s, the Glendale Hyperion Bridge complex is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.

• Griffith Park - Secret tunnels and trails are abundant in the wild backside of Griffith Park. This vast, mostly untouched mountainous landscape spans roughly 4,210 acres in the heart of the urban metropolis, making it five times the size of New York’s Central Park. Riders may encounter native wildlife, hikers, horse riders, and more! Designated as a Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM) and the largest municipal park with urban wilderness in the United States, the park’s natural chaparral-covered terrain and manicured picnic areas are also home to the Los Angeles Zoo, the Autry Museum of the American West, the Griffith Observatory, and the Hollywood Sign—all of which are included in the ride.

• Autry Museum of the American West - The tour stops at this historic museum founded by Hollywood’s singing cowboy Gene Autry. The 36,000-square-foot complex houses over 500,000 works of art and artifacts from the American frontier, along with Western film memorabilia, including pistols used by Steve McQueen and costumes from 2005’s Brokeback Mountain. There’s even a replica movie set of an Old Western town with storefronts. (Little-known fact: The first-ever feature-length movie filmed in Hollywood was a Western—the 1914 silent film The Squaw Man, directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The camera used to film it is here, too.)

• Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens - The L.A. Zoo is home to thousands of animals, including one of the largest troops of chimpanzees in North America. Fun Fact: There’s a dedicated Zoo Magnet High School nearby offering 300 students a college preparatory curriculum focused on animal studies and biological sciences.

• Travel Town - The tour stops at Travel Town’s “railroad petting zoo,” founded in the 1940s to allow Los Angeles children to “imagineer” themselves as engineers. Visitors will find vintage automobiles, locomotives, and freight cars.

• Hollywood Sign - Riders have several opportunities to view the Hollywood Sign, once from Griffith Observatory and others from deeper inside the park, most memorably on a secret trailhead nicknamed “Rockin’ Ridge” for its spectacular view.

• Cathy’s Corner - Made famous by the movie LA LA Land with Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone’s dance sequence, this stop offers a breathtaking view of the Valley, Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, the San Gabriel Mountains, Verdugo Hills, and Royce’s Canyon. The tour also stops at The Notch, which overlooks Hollywood, WeHo (West Hollywood), Palos Verdes, Santa Monica, and Century City. On a clear day, Catalina Island, the Pacific Ocean, and Santa Barbara are visible.

• Griffith Observatory - The magnificent jewel of LA. The tour rides right up to the Observatory’s entrance like VIPs, bypassing the line, gliding past parked cars and pedestrians climbing uphill, parking the bikes, and enjoying a walk around the grounds, made famous in numerous movies including “La La Land,” “Jurassic Park,” “Back to the Future,” “Terminator,” and “Transformers.” A bronze bust of James Dean commemorates the filming of “Rebel Without a Cause.” Enjoy panoramic views of the Los Angeles basin and Catalina Island, plus coin-operated telescopes. • The Greek Theatre - The tour stops for a photo opportunity in front of the historic Greek Theatre, one of the nation’s most beloved and recognized outdoor entertainment venues. First opened in 1930, the Greek has hosted some of the biggest legends in music, including Sir Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, B.B. King, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. Between 1967 and 1989, The Grateful Dead performed 29 times at the Greek.

• Los Feliz - The tour exits the park into the quiet, hillside residential streets of Los Feliz, known as the birthplace of one of California’s most iconic celebrities: Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney was living in the garage of his aunt and uncle’s Los Feliz house when he first drew the character that would become the world’s best-known mouse. He later opened his first animation studio just down the street.

• Los Angeles River Bike Path - The tour heads back to the LA River, stopping by the new La Kretz Crossing, also known as the North Atwater Bridge—a cable-stayed steel pedestrian bridge that crosses the Los Angeles River, linking Griffith Park with Atwater Village. The ride continues down the LA River, past equestrian stables, to another smaller bridge at Sunnynook known as “Love Lock Bridge,” where visitors attach personalized padlocks to its railing, similar to its more famous Parisian cousin.

• Baum Bicycle Bridge - Two massive 24-foot diameter bicycle spokes and rims hover over this bridge, named for Alexandre Baum, the German-born, French Resistance fighter and Holocaust survivor who championed cycling in LA. Growing up in France, his family hosted athletes of color, such as Jesse Owens, who couldn’t find lodgings while competing nearby. Inclusive mobility and activity were themes throughout his life. As part of the 1984 Olympic organizing committee, he was responsible for adding the women’s road race to the Olympics. He later helped develop cycling programs and recreational facilities for inner-city kids in Los Angeles. He secured funding for the construction of Olympic Velodromes in Carson, CA, and at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. He also helped build velodromes in Dominguez Hills and Encino and pioneered the Amgen Tour of California bike race, one of the four cycling stage races in the world.
