Excellent historical tour- outside of bldg doesn't tell you what is inside - Mark has built a unique tour. He walks you around the part of LA that in the past was a wealthier section and shows you what you see on the outside of a building isn’t what is inside. Mark takes you inside some buildings and shows you how the inside has been maintained or how it has been repurposed. Lots of interesting history about downtown’s development and decline. Mark is conscientious about the details to keep the guests comfortable and included.

Walking through historic downtown - Interesting choice of places to see and a researched explanation. He geared his chat to the audience appropriately. Walking pace was reasonable.

DTLA history and architecture tour with Mark Eloi - I really enjoyed the tour. Mark provides a lot of historical context and background, often through stories and anegdotes, which makes the tour much more interesting and engaging. Highly recommend it.

Highly Recommend! - An excellent tour! Our guide had really done his research thoroughly. We loved learning interesting and obscure facts about the city and the buildings that we visited. We got to discuss thoughtful and intuitive insights and connections from our guide about how LA grew, morphed and changed into what it is now. We felt very comfortable asking questions and being allowed to pursue subjects of interest for more discussion. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this tour!

Seeing L.A. with new eyes!! - Absolutely loved our time on this tour! Had a great time learning a lot about the history of how Downtown came to be and even better I came out with a broader understanding of city planning! Highly recommend this tour to visitors and locals alike. You'll get a great step count and will have a great time all along the way.

Loved every bits of the tour! So interesting - We only had 1 full day in LA and chose this tour to explore LA’s downtown, which often is being disregarded by other tourists. We have not regretted one second spending our afternoon walking through the streets with Mark. He is a wonderfully witty guide, who knows a lot about the area/LA AND is passionate to tell the history — a great story teller overall. Our tour went a bit longer than 2 hours, so I’d recommend you accounting for some flexibility. Maybe even some time to grab a pint after the tour, if circumstances permit. We came back with so much knowledge and can’t recommend this tour enough. If you can o ly do 1 tour, do this one!

Beautiful buildings and Hollywood history - The tour was great, you get to see lots of places you wouldn’t usually know are significant and hidden away. Most interesting for film fans getting to see Hollywood history, Mark had great knowledge of this.

Not what I hoped for - I was generally disappointed in the tour. The architectural part was really missing. I enjoyed the Biltmore but effectively leaving out the Bradbury Building (it was closed when we arrived) was a real issue. Also too much political commentary on how awful cars are and not enough on the interesting buildings. The book store was a complete waste of time. walking through the arcades though was good. We passed with out comment a lot of what appeared to be historic buildings that he did not point out or mention.
