This was an outdoor... - This was an outdoor experience that included dinner and show. The entertainment for tonight’s show played old and new country music songs and also did some requests. Dinner was served to the guests at their tables , we were on a table of 6 and it gave us a chance to chat to fellow travellers. After the main meal we could go up and get a hot piece of damper and either a tea or coffee. There was a bar at the venue where you could purchase drinks

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Night to Remember at Smithy’s — Resilience, Romance & Remarkable Music - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Night to Remember at Smithy’s — Resilience, Romance & Remarkable Music While on our Outback Road Trip, we had the pleasure of spending an unforgettable evening at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show in Longreach. What made this experience even more special was knowing the resilience behind it — after the devastating floods that swept through the area only 6 weeks ago, Smithy’s lost everything. Yet, they rebuilt from the ground up, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Set beside the Coolibah-lined Thomson River, the setting is quintessentially outback Australia. We were treated to a delicious two-course camp oven-themed dinner, cooked over Gidyea coals, followed by freshly baked damper and billy tea. The full table service under the stars created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of the night was the live entertainment. We were fortunate to see Wicker Suite, an Australian country-bluegrass duo comprising singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liam Kennedy-Clark and fiddle virtuoso Gabi Louise. Their performance was mesmerizing, blending country, bluegrass, and folk in a way that captivated the entire audience. Their chemistry on stage is palpable, and it's no surprise they've won multiple Golden Guitar awards. Smithy’s has truly created the best tourist night out in the outback. Their dedication to providing an authentic and enjoyable experience, even after such adversity, is commendable. If you find yourself in Longreach, this is an experience not to be missed.

Bit pricey for what you get - Bit expensive for what you get. The blurb reads that you catch the train out to a lovely sunset and from there you go to Smithy’s for camp oven dinner. So, we board the train and are driven 30 minutes out of town. The canapés were absolutely lovely, thanks Emily, the train then stops and you are left looking at the sunset through the trees. One cool moment was kangaroos bounding next to the train, great for overseas travellers. Next thing we head back towards town and pull up a few km out of town to board a bus which literally drove us 500 metres. The setting at Smithy’s is really lovely and I guess we were a bit disappointed as we were looking forward to a camp oven experience and only one meal was camp oven cooked. The Barra was nice but being in sheep and cattle country I thought we’d be getting served the local produce. The lamb stew was nice but definitely not enough lamb. The singer was ok but we couldn’t hear each other talk so it was difficult to socialise. Then without warning the bar was shut and it was announced that we were to board the bus back. For $200 each plus another $50 or so on drinks we were a bit disappointed. Maybe the train could stop somewhere and you could get out and eat your canapés whilst watching the sun set? The camp oven dinner needs to be an actual camp oven dinner. The one boiled spud was disheartening and a few veg in the side needs some more thought.
