Awful. Decent pics etc but could be so much better in future. - Was good but standard admission we were charged £70 not £30-40 we thought. Very much a scam and would like to change cost on so gn so it’s not misleading. Disgustingly priced for a simple tour. Bumped into several times also and no space areas for breather. Very very bad accommodation for someone with severe anxiety/prone to panic attacks and with autism. Do better!!!

Mesmerising in places, but noisy - I appreciate that I’m not the target market for Sealife, being a middle-aged woman with no children, so any negatives I give should probably come with that proviso.
My husband and I did this as a dual ticket with the London Eye - very handily placed - and were able to get in without any queuing, even before our allotted entry time. The bag search and security scan was a bit of a surprise, and would probably slow things down a lot at busy periods.
I was really there to admire the sealife, not particularly to be educated, so didn’t spend time reading the information or interacting much with the displays - if you wanted to do that I’m sure you could get a lot out of it, but even without it’s fascinating. The aquarium is divided into zones of different themes, some of which you revisit from different angles. The shark tank was stunning, but my absolute favourite was the massive aquarium featuring sea turtles, which I’ve never seen before. The penguins were clearly a hit with everyone. The most popular bits do tend to get crowded and it can be hard to get a good look at some exhibits; conversely you might find it frustrating trying to get past people idling over something you’re not terribly interested in. The jellyfish are enchanting, if creepy.
My main issue was noise; I almost immediately put my Loop earplugs in and was very glad of them. In a closed space it can get very loud, particularly with an audience of small children who can’t modulate their volume.
There are plenty of toilets as you go around, plus a couple of refreshment kiosks. The inevitable gift shop on the way out, plus option to purchase photos taken on the way round.
Very entertaining way to spend an hour or so. I would love an adults-only slot, but even without that option it was enjoyable.

SEA LIFE London – A Mixed Bag of Fish (and Penguins) - SEA LIFE London Aquarium is a decent indoor attraction, especially for families with younger kids. But don’t expect to be blown away. The aquatic variety is fair: you’ll see penguins, sharks, sting rays, seahorses, and some vibrant corals alongside a modest selection of smaller fish. However, there’s nothing particularly spectacular or groundbreaking about the exhibits – especially when compared to larger, more immersive aquariums in other major cities.
Underwhelming “Add-ons” – Beware the Tourist Traps
What really pulls the experience down are the blatant money-making schemes scattered throughout:
• The “Storm Experience” (£2 per person) – This is borderline laughable. For what you’re told will be an immersive weather simulation, you get a standard household fan and some lighting effects (not sure if the device is even checked for proper functioning). It’s over in a few seconds and feels more like a scam than a feature. At best, this should be a free side exhibit – charging for it feels borderline fraudulent.
• The VR Experience (£9 per person) – While slightly more engaging, this VR setup is overpriced. The animation and experience are ok at best – something you’d expect to pay £3–£4 for in a shopping mall, not nearly £10. It’s clearly designed to catch unsuspecting tourists off guard with its futuristic appeal but underdelivers in actual value.
⚠️ Lighting and Layout
Another notable downside is the dim lighting throughout the venue. While some of it is deliberate to simulate ocean environments, many parts are just too dark – making it hard to enjoy the displays or take decent photos. Visibility is often compromised, which detracts from the educational and aesthetic experience.
If you get discounted tickets as part of a combo deal (e.g., with London Eye or Madame Tussauds), it’s a passable family activity to kill an hour or two – especially if your kids enjoy marine life. But for full-price standalone tickets, it doesn’t offer enough value or novelty to justify the spend. Tourists should be cautious of the hidden upsells as they add up quickly and offer little real benefit. content.

Mixed Feelings After Visiting the London Aquarium - I recently visited the London Aquarium and came away with mixed feelings. The displays are impressive and it’s fascinating to see such a wide range of marine life up close. The tanks are well presented and the information provided is interesting.
That said, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the penguins. Their enclosure is entirely indoors, with no access to natural light or the outdoors. It felt unnatural and a little sad to watch such lively animals in an artificial environment.
Because of this, I probably wouldn’t return. While the aquarium has some highlights, the welfare of certain animals left me feeling uncomfortable.

Very disappointing - Found this to be a very expensive attraction, a family of 5 cost us £208 even though some of the features within the park was an additional cost. Children’s face painting was £12.95, vr experience £14.95, hurricane simulator £9.95, story telling £4.95 and this was all per person so why did we need to pay £208 in the first place. Was also extremely disappointed that they don’t accept cash for anything not even refreshments. This place is a poor mans sea world but they charge just as much if not more.

Disappointment - Too expensive for what it is. We paid 171 pounds to four. We had to book our tickets to limit the world. But there was a lot DE mon DE, we could not see all the species of animals because we did not have room for it. The photos make you want to go. The tunnel with the sharks passing around attracted us but it has nothing to do with it. You circle around the same aquarium for meters and meters. I'm very disappointed.

Horrendous - We won't be returning to London aquarium while the penguins have such poor living conditions. They have no access to the outside and fresh air, just a dark cramped tank with a ridiculously small pool. They look like they're losing their minds in there, such an awfully sad existence for them. The owners should be ashamed!

Extremely disappointing - Everyone is pushing to get a view of the penguins which are kept in horrible conditions in the basement with no access to outside sun or a natural environment. This can not be legal! Do not recommend.

Depressing visit with appalling conditions for creatures - A very depressing place to visit with children to see creatures kept inside small dirty enclosures, with cramped space for them and not much better for us visitors. Very poor facilities for visitors. Terribly sad for the penguins especially, they are kept in a tiny enclosure with no natural light or stimulus, it was very dark around that enclosure. If you care at all for penguins do not visit, this whole place needs closing down as it’s not fit for purpose, there are plenty of other fun things to do on Southbank.

Good for people watching very poor for aquatic observation. - £70 for 2 booked in advance tickets for a timed arrival slot proved to be a complete waste of money. Yes it was the school holidays and a peak tourist time for London but the timed entry ticket was supposed to control numbers visiting at any one time. Crammed with people, pushchairs and buggies we spent nearly an hour trying to get through the mass of visitors where minimal fleeting glances into aquarium inhabitants was hugely outnumbered by views of the back's of peoples heads. Hopefully some of the £70 goes to nature conservation so something positive will result from our visit. It was with a sense of relief that we finally escaped for some fresh Thameside air.
