Highlights

Livadia - Situated on the western edge of the Kopaida valley, Livadia is traversed by the Erkyna river. Its charming neighborhoods and historic houses are captivating, and the stone bridges at the Krya springs offer a beautiful natural setting with evergreen plane trees, natural waterfalls, and windmills. Visitors can explore the Byzantine Castle, the Oracle (an underground stone structure), the stone Theatre, and the Clock. You can also savor a quick meal, sampling the town’s renowned traditional souvlaki, or wander around and enjoy a coffee.

Delphi Archaeological Museum - One of Greece’s most significant museums, the Archaeological Museum of Delphi showcases the history of the renowned Delphic sanctuary and the ancient Greek world’s most famous oracle. Its extensive collections primarily feature architectural sculptures, statues, and intricate artworks dedicated by the faithful to the sanctuary, reflecting its religious, political, and artistic significance from the 8th century BC until its decline in late antiquity.

Temple of Apollo - The visible ruins of the Temple of Apollo date back to the fourth century BC and represent a peripteral Doric structure. It was constructed by Spintharus, Xenodoros, and Agathon on the remnants of an earlier sixth-century BC temple, which itself was built on the site of a seventh-century BC structure attributed to the legendary architects Trophonios and Agamedes.

Ancient Theatre - Located further up the hill from the Temple of Apollo, the ancient theatre at Delphi offers spectators a view of the entire sanctuary and the valley below. Originally built in the fourth century BC, it underwent several renovations, notably in 160/159 BC funded by King Eumenes II of Pergamon and in 67 AD during Emperor Nero’s visit.

The Tholos of Delphi - The tholos at the sanctuary of Athena Pronaea is a circular building constructed between 380 and 360 BC. It featured 20 Doric columns with an exterior diameter of 14.76 meters and 10 Corinthian columns inside. Located about half a mile from the main ruins at Delphi, three of its Doric columns have been restored, making it a popular spot for tourist photographs.

Ancient Stadium of Delphi - Positioned at the highest point of the Archaeological Site of Delphi, the Stadium of Delphi overlooks the sanctuary of Apollo and offers views of the Delphic landscape. Built in the latter half of the 4th century BC or possibly after the Galatian attacks, it measures 178 meters in length and has undergone several refurbishments. It is the best-preserved ancient stadium in Greece.

Arachova - Nestled at the foot of Mt. Parnassos in Viotia, Southern Greece, Arachova is a picturesque mountainous village. It is Greece’s most cosmopolitan winter destination, favored by ski enthusiasts, celebrities, and first-time visitors seeking a dreamy mountainous setting with modern tourism amenities. Its modern ski resort, proximity to Athens, and stunning mountainous scenery are major attractions. Besides mountain activities, Arachova is known for its vibrant nightlife and is a favorite mountain resort for Athenians.

Delphi - Located at the foot of Parnassos, in a striking natural landscape between two mysterious rocks, the Phaedriades, lies the pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, the most famous oracle of ancient Greece. According to mythology, Delphi was the navel of the earth, where Zeus’s eagles met to find the world’s center, and for centuries it was the spiritual and religious heart and symbol of ancient Hellenic unity. In 1987, Delphi was designated a UNESCO monument. Today, Delphi is both a municipality and a modern town adjacent to the ancient site, created after relocating buildings from the sacred precinct to allow for excavation. Visitors can explore the town and enjoy a meal.

Great journey to Delphi - We are glad that we booked this outing with this company run by a lovely couple with two daughters. The husband drove us not only to Delphi but took us to a charming town with cool running stream and also to a rustic monastery making it a journey not a destination only. He was friendly and helpful. You will not regret booking outings with them. Thanks for a memorable time.
