Oceanário de Lisboa - Visiting the Oceanário de Lisboa offers a remarkable experience, allowing guests to explore and feel the enchanting magic of the underwater realm. Embark on this reflective journey to encounter 8,000 marine creatures from 500 diverse species.
The permanent exhibition (Aquarium) honors life on Earth with a central 5-million-liter saltwater aquarium, encircled by four marine habitats that represent the North Atlantic, Antarctic, Temperate Pacific, and Tropical Indian Ocean. This design creates the illusion of viewing a single aquarium and ocean. The tour spans two levels, both terrestrial and underwater, traversing the temperate, tropical, and cold waters of the planet’s various oceans.
Additionally, explore the “Forests Underwater,” a masterpiece by Takashi Amano, showcasing tropical forests through the world’s largest nature aquarium, and the new “Submerged Universe” exhibition, an immersive journey into the vastness of the ocean.

Magical.....but attention to the welfare of animals........ - This place is magical. The Lisbon Oceanarium provides a magical moment between us and marine life, in a very close experience between visitors and animals.
(Note: I would very much like to ask the staff for an eye to the yellow fish that are in the penguin aquarium, in one of the windows of the penguin aquarium at the bottom, such yellow little fish are in terrible condition, full of wounds, when I say full of wounds is even full of wounds, some already without tail and with parts of the boaca stuck due to bites. It is possible to observe the penguins in this window that about 15 every 15 seconds will attack these fish that during the 15 minutes that we were observing that moment remained behind some stones. You can see the penguins going there and biting them, you can see the penguins ripping off some of the fish's tails. I think it is an irresponsibility on the part of the staff, of course they can not control what the animals do but I think it is a little impossible for them not to have noticed the notable wounds of these fish!!!!!!!)

Great activity for a rainy day in Lisbon - We were in Lisbon for 10 days and it was a rainy day towards the end of the trip. Feeling lazy and not wanting to get wet, we decided to give this attraction a try. It was a good choice and we had fun. Tons of families were there enjoying it as well. Took an easy couple of hours, and the weather cleared while we were inside, so bonus.

A Wonderful Visit to the Oceanário Lisboa – Perfect for All Ages - I spent a delightful morning visiting the Oceanário Lisboa, and it was one of the highlights of my time in Portugal. The visit began under perfect conditions — a relaxed start to the day followed by a beautiful walk and then our guided tour of the aquarium.
Our guide, Silvia, was outstanding — knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about marine life. She made the experience even more enjoyable for everyone in our small group of seven. The two young children with us were completely enthralled at every display, which made the visit even more special to witness.
The exhibits themselves were wonderfully designed, showcasing an incredible variety of ocean species in beautifully maintained environments. The central tank is breathtaking — you could easily spend an hour just watching the graceful rays and sharks glide by.
By the time we stepped outside, the heavens had opened and it was pouring rain, but honestly, I couldn’t have cared less — the experience inside was so magical.
Highly recommend a visit to the Oceanário Lisboa to anyone coming to Lisbon. It’s educational, inspiring, and a truly memorable experience for both adults and children alike.

Awesome - This was the perfect outing for my family as we were able to explore the aquarium, seeing the different species of fish and marine life. The kids enjoyed the outing very much and cannot stop talking about it.

Beautiful way and very nicely set up to experience ocean life - What a great place to see life in the ocean.
So nicely set up and even though it was busy you didn't suffer from it.
Can recommend it to anyone with and without children
The cable car is also nice We unfortunately had bad weather. So view was not optimal

Good but too busy - Nicely designed and interesting, but way too busy! The crowds made it really hard to enjoy, especially since we had a baby and a stroller and it was hard to shove our way into anything to see the exhibits. Also, no map and finding washrooms etc was confusing.

Yellow bus tour combined ticket allows you to skip the queue - Bought our tickets combined with the Yellow bus tour tickets and when we arrived there were huge queues, but luckily this ticket allowed us to skip the queues (worth every penny and the bus stop is at the aquarium).
Friendly helpful staff.
A really beautiful aquarium with an outstanding range of species. The tanks were clean, spacious and I got the sense the fish were well looked after.
I always think of aquariums being a relaxing place, but due to the sheer volume of people visiting, some people pushing and some children screaming, it wasn’t the most relaxing experience. The walkways and spaces between the tanks were very dark, I appreciate it’s to get the best views from the tanks but a few more reflective floor strips wouldn’t go amiss.
Excellent range of species from fish, sharks, rays and sea dragons to coral, penguins, puffins and otters! The otters were a personal highlight, as well as the leafy sea dragon.
Myself and my sister spent 2.5 hours here.
There are toilets, a gift shop and a cafe on site too.

Nice but way too expensive - First of all - you should have bought the tickets online, then the entrance fee is probably 25€. On the spot we paid for two 62€ and there was not even the cable car, we had to pay that again extra. The central large aquarium is very nice and fine to look at (including benches to recover) but that was it. I expected more compared to everything I've seen everywhere.

Very enjoyable - Really enjoyed the visit. Some of the animals did look a bit unhappy though. A good mix of everything to see. It's one of those places that you go to, once and that's it. So when I say I wouldn't go again, it's not because I didn't enjoy it, I did. It's that, once you've been and seen it, what would change if you went again?

Great disappointment - Big disappointment, perhaps because there were too many people but I definitely expected something different. Except the guide Claudia who was very good. Otherwise too many people and I was disappointed. Nothing to do with Genoa
