Honest and authentic food experience. - We met up with Andrè, and another couple. After brief introductions, Andrè led us to the first of many stops that provided a true raw and authentic Lisbon experience. Walking and eating through both the Mouraria and Graça neighborhoods provided us with an intimate history of both the neighborhood and Portugal. We were completely blown away by this experience, and highly recommend cutting back on the lattes and avacado toast so that you too can experience this amazing tour!

Amazing afternoon of food, culture, and fun! - Food tours are one of my favorite travel activities and those produced by Culinary Backstreets are hands down the best. This tour was the perfect mix of food, drink, and historical and cultural information. Our guide, Kika, was amazing - even drawing quick maps to explain wine regions and other important knowledge. She even provided me with some recommendations to continue my Portuguese language learning adventure. Make this your first-day activity in Lisbon, and you'll have great, authentic eating ideas for the rest of your trip.

Mouraria and Graça, Lisbon - I did this tour along with the Crossroads tour of Lisbon. As usual with CB, they were both above an beyond. Quite simply the best food tour operator in the world right now. Our guide, Irene, was very informative and personable. Lots of fabulous food and quaint, out of the way stops through Mouraria and Graca. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this tour - Martim was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who obviously loves the neighborhoods and people on this tour. As the tour promised, we encountered local institutions and community leaders that most tourists never get a chance to experience. The food included some of the best local dishes I had while in Lisbon, and this tour has the best views of the city of any among the four in Lisbon offered by Culinary Backstreets (I have been on three of the four). That said, there are some fairly steep hills, so appropriate footwear is a good idea.

Highlight of our trip - One of the highlights of our trip. Irene is very knowledgeable about the area and its food. She paced the afternoon very well and took us to restaurants we could never have discovered on our own. Great food and drink and a wonderful afternoon.

One of the trip’s highlights! - We had the loveliest tour with Patricia. I can’t remember meeting a more knowledgeable, personable and entertaining person - she is a perfect guide for this tour. We had a great group of 7 people, and I was astonished at how quickly 5 hours passed. The multiple food stops are more than enough to cover both a late lunch and dinner so come hungry! We learned so much about the area and its history. I had heard many good things about Culinary Backstreets before this trip and I was not disappointed; in fact I will seek these tours out on future trips! Highly recommend!

Amazing food tour! - This was an amazing tour! Kika our guide was knowledgeable and fun. The food we had was great. We got to experience both traditional food and newer takes on traditional ingredients. Culinary Backstreets truly took us down backstreets to places we would never have found on own. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Best food walking tour ever! - Culinary Backstreets run an amazing walking tour. Wow. The hillside tour went for 5-6 hours and there was sooooo much food and it was all unreal. Our guide was lovely, and the small group size meant there was plenty of time to get to know the other participants. All of the places we went I would never have found on my own. They were super local and not touristic at all. I only wish I had booked more culinary backstreets tour on my trip to Europe, what a fantastic afternoon out exploring Lisbon.

Fascinating history of a unique neighborhood - Irene was a fantastic guide, with so much knowledge as a chef and world traveler. We learned so much about Lisbon's history and about this unique neighborhood (though be aware, it has a lot of big hills to climb). The food was served in several hidden restaurant gems that captured the culinary culture of this city. We really enjoyed meeting our fellow travelers and had lots of time to get to know each other. My only suggestion was that on another Culinary Backstreet Tour, it felt like there was more food (you won't feel too full which is also good in some ways). On this tour, the portions were small and could've been better with more options for those who don't eat all types of seafood. If you love seafood though, this is a great choice.
