Historically, the male members of the Bunun tribe would go hunting, while the women took care of household duties. As the men returned with their catch, they would call out loudly in the resonant valley to signal their safe return, bringing joy to their families. At the “Buzz Grand Canyon Calling Station,” visitors can shout out loud, reliving the historical scene and enjoying the expansive canyon views. -
Namaxia - Camphor Tree Park
This park is home to over 300 camphor trees. Legend has it that after a fire devastated Mayali, birds carried seeds and branches of camphor trees back and forth, leading to the formation of this camphor tree cluster. The beautiful trees here offer a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. From the wooden balcony, visitors can admire the mountains, listen to the flowing water, and immerse themselves in a natural forest bath, experiencing the story of Namasia as told by nature. -
Namaxia - Namashya Japanese Shrine Ruins
Located in Dhaka Nuwa Society, the Japanese shrine was originally situated in a bamboo forest and served as an administrative district during the Japanese colonial era. Besides general settlements, there were schools, office buildings, and police stations. The Japanese built shrines in elevated areas within the tribal living circle for their strategic advantage. A red torii gate marks the entrance to the stone steps of the shrine. The stone steps, laid by the Bunun people who carried heavy stones up the mountain, still bear the marks of time. The shrine ruins, including the stone walls, approach, sacred path, and temple base, are well preserved. -
Namaxia - Namashya Millennium Cinnamomum camphora
The Kanakanavu tribe is the earliest known to inhabit Namasia. According to legend, during a great flood, the tribe sought refuge on Teng Bao Mountain, which they later revered as sacred. The robust camphor trees have protected Namasia for millennia, guiding generations through the deep mountains. As a tribute, stout camphor wood is placed facing Teng Bao Mountain, symbolizing the spirit of the Grandpa Stout Camphor Tree alongside the sacred mountain, safeguarding the people of Namasia. -
Namaxia - Mayan Reconstructed Suspension Bridge
Originally called the Rehabilitation Suspension Bridge, it was constructed in 1935, about 700 meters from the current Mayan Suspension Bridge. Due to its precarious location, it was frequently damaged during typhoon and rainy seasons, raising safety concerns. Consequently, villagers decided to relocate it. In 1935, it was rebuilt at its present site. Initially, it was only accessible to pedestrians, making it difficult to transport goods. Another meeting led to its reconstruction in 1994, allowing small agricultural trucks to pass. -
