- Piano Provenzana - Pick-up at your hotel by Jeep. Across the highway you will get to Giarre and from there cross the villages at the feet of Mount Etna. You will pass on an ancient lava flow from which you will admire the immense Bove Valley, a huge volcanic depression created about 25 million years ago and where you will see some recent lava flows and some rock formations created by collapse of ancient volcanic buildings. You will visit a lava cave and after, you will take a short break in a mountain shelter. From here you will continue the tour with a walk along a path to visit “Monti Sartorius”, craters formed during the eruption of 1865. After, if you have chosen the half day trip, you will visit a recent lava flow formed in Piano Provenzana. From here you will return to your hotel passing through the road said Mareneve and the villages of Linguaglossa and Fiumefreddo.

Request Luca for a SUPER tour of Mt. Etna. - Luca our guide was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and made our day on Mt. Etna special. We hiked thru Lava Tubes and over many Craters and learned about the fauna.

Fascinating, exciting adventure - Excellent trip with our guide Saro, who gave us a fascinating insight into Etna, the local area, and Sicily. His knowledgeable and enthusiastic approach couldn't be improved. We had an amazing day and would definitely recommend a jeep tour.

Definitely worth experiencing. A great was to see Mt. Etna and experience a wonderful part of Sicily! - Being in the midst of the craters and seeing the large lava rocks that had been thrown from the volcano when it erupted was amazing. Worth making a note that we were not in a Jeep. We were in a van. The main picture on Viator is not correct. Luca our guide was wonderful, very helpful, knowledgeable and fun! He was a delight. The one thing we missed in preparation was for the hiking part of the trip. Make sure to bring proper hiking shoes and be prepared for rain and cold depending on the day.

A very uncomfortable tour. - We believed we signed up for a private tour, but there were 4 others squeezed into a small car.
We were never told there was a 1 hour hike. We were not advised to carry water.
At the end of the tour we were not immediately taken to our hotel, but on an hour-long trip to drop off the 4 other participants at a vineyard.

Shambles - The tour did not happen as apparently the jeep broke down that morning. It was about 75 minutes after the scheduled pick up that we were notified that the tour could not take place. The alternative dates offered were of no use to us as we were on our penultimate day on holiday.
