Upon reaching the Veragua rainforest, prepare to delve into an untouched ecosystem. You’ll saunter down accessible paths leading to the tram. Here, you’ll enter an open-air cable car that will transport you through the primary rainforest, letting you observe 300-year-old trees, and down to the river’s edge. You will then explore the Trail of the Giants, named for the massive trees bordering the river, or you may choose to hike the Puma Waterfall trail.
Board the tram back up to the top station and visit the biological research center. Following the visit to Veragua, the trip will continue to the Tortuguero Canal. The canals that flow into the Tortuguero National Park originate in the Puerto Moin region, a mere 5 miles from the heart of Limon province. At this point, you’ll get the chance to observe various wildlife species like the sloths.
