Highlights
  • Barranco - The first stop on this Lima tour starts in the enchanting, bohemian Barranco district at a local roastery, Tostaduria Bisetti, where they hand-pick the coffee beans daily, for an organic Peruvian coffee. You will also tour the colonial streets of this trendy district, home to artists, musicians and the city’s top art galleries, visit the Bridge of Sighs and Barranco’s main square. You’ll try an exotic fruit smoothie made from lucuma at the garden cafe, La Bodega Verde.
  • Costa Verde - Get a spectacular view of Lima’s coastline as we pass through the city en route to our next culinary stop
  • Miraflores - You’ll visit a traditional market to try exotic fruits and discover local products while learning the ancient myths and legends associated with them.

The third stop is one of the city’s delicious seafood restaurants (cebichería), Embarcadero 41 Fusíon, on Avenida La Mar in the Miraflores district – a stop other tours in Lima won’t take you. You’ll discover the secrets to the perfect Cebiche and Pisco Sour as you prepare the dish and cocktail yourself with the head chef and bartender.

  • San Isidro - While we’re in this part of the city, you’ll have the chance to see some of the district’s most iconic spots, like South America’s first olive grove, el Olivar Park, pre-Incan ruins at la Huaca Huallamarca as well as the Country Club.
  • Huaca Pucllana - The last stop, and the icing on the cake, is for more dishes and dessert at la Huaca Pucllana, a restaurant within a pre-Incan archeological complex – undoubtedly a highlight of tourism in Lima. This prestigious restaurant is so impressive that the King of Spain, Mick Jagger, and many sitting presidents, just to name a few, have made sure not to miss it during their trips to Lima. You’ll enjoy a variety of gourmet Peruvian dishes as well as four different desserts and another pisco-based cocktail.

So much variety and a wonderful guide - Amy was a wonderful guide! While she showed us the cool parts of Lima, what we loved the most was her openness to share her personal stories with us, which really enriched our experience. Along the way we tried some crazy fruits, a delicious cevice, a wicked pisco sour and a feast of peruvian dishes at a beautiful restaurant! Highly recommended!

Great food and a great tour! - The group had a fabulous outing! We started with coffee. Then progressed to ceviche (with a side trip to a great food market). And finished with an assortment of Peruvian dishes, including beef heart (enjoyed by everyone!). Our host, Patricia, was friendly, had great English, and was knowledgeable about the food and history of this beautiful city!

Food, glorious food - First of all, Patricia, our guide, was exceptional. We had only heard very negative reports on Peru, Lima especially. This was disproved immediately by this culinary experience. The food, the people, are just wonderful. OK, there are areas you shouldn't wonder into, but isn't that in any city, any country?? There are much more positives to Peru than negatives, especially the food! We had no expectations at all, but the food, from the markets to the table were unbelievably good and delicious. Shelley is vegetarian and Peru really caters to that diet. The coconut ceviche was a highlight for both of us! Do this tour if you're ever in Lima, BUT do not have breakfast before you join the tour!!!

Lima Gourmet - Daytime - Perfect way to see the different areas of Lima and check out the food scene during our one day in town. Kimberly was an excellent guide and shared great information about the different areas of Lima, the preparation of foods (and drinks!) that we were sampling, the incredible variety of fruits and vegetables in the market that we visited… all while making sure that everyone in our small group was comfortable and having a great time. Highly recommend

Upscale tour with excellent food & guide! - We could not have been happier with our day tour. Kimberly really did an amazing job of explaining the foods, her city and the culture of Lima. Everything was delicious, and it felt like a more upscale tour than the other tours offered in the area. The van was comfortable and clean. The restaurants were nice. The market didn’t have the typical “market smell” and the vendors were polite/not pushy. The pace was perfect. Again we loved all of it!

Must do in Lima - Great experience with our driver Juanito and tour guide Sue! My first food tour in Lima and they took us to great places where locals and tourists enjoy! You go in a van to each place, sit down, try different dishes and hear where these popular dishes come from and really get the experience of culture and food. Make sure to take this tour the next time you are in Lima!

How to have a great day in Lima! - Amy was a fantastic culinary guide for my son and me! I highly recommend the culinary food experience. It’s wonderful to drive around downtown Lima and immerse yourself good food, culture and the surrounding city. It’s a great way to spend that first post travel day in Lima before you go off to see Machu Picchu or the Amazon jungle. I highly recommend it and I highly recommend our guide, Amy Makiya. She’s amazing! Amy was knowledgeable, energetic, and genuine. Quite a treat (pun intended)! Thank you, Amy! Sincerely, Dean and Danny

Delicious food but not much fun! - This tour had the potential to be an outstanding 5 star event as the restaurants were outstanding and the food was delicious. Although our guide was informative and responded to questions, her very rapid speech was hard to follow. She seemed a little weary and appeared to be going through the daily routine rather than demonstrating any real enthusiasm. It was a very small group and there was limited interaction. I had booked for two people but due to sickness, I joined the tour by myself. It was an expensive tour. I understand the rules but thought a small refund for lunch expenses or the offer to take some food samples home would have been fair. At the lunch restaurant, I would have liked the opportunity to read the menu and select some of the dishes. There was only 3 in our group so this could have been easily managed. I would have preferred fish to beef heart as I did mention I did not eat offal.
