The Huayhuash Trek: This 9-day adventure through the Peruvian Andes is a stunning exploration of glacial valleys, turquoise lakes, and towering 6,000-meter peaks. Beginning near Huaraz, this well-designed circuit offers both challenge and accessibility, providing an unforgettable mountain experience. Spanning approximately 170 km and traversing seven high passes ranging from 4,300 to 5,000 meters, the trek requires physical fitness, surefootedness, and a readiness to step out of one’s comfort zone. Trekkers will camp by lakes such as Carhuacocha and Jahuacocha, amidst wildlife like condors, vicuñas, and numerous other species.
With the support of local guides, cooks, and pack animals, participants carry only a light daypack, allowing them to fully engage with the rhythm of the Andes. The Huayhuash offers breathtaking scenery, cultural connections, and a profound sense of wonder.
The Documentary: Kendra Slagter, a Canadian outdoor adventure filmmaker and storyteller, creates work that delves into the connections between people.
