Leh (arrival)

Leh - Arrive by flight at Leh. Welcome to Leh! Few places in India are as traveler-friendly and captivating as the mountain-framed Leh. The Old Town, dotted with stupas and crumbling mudbrick houses, is dominated by a steep rocky ridge crowned by an impressive Tibetan-style palace and fort. A private car will pick you up from Leh Airport and transfer you to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival. [NOTE: Standard check-in time is 12:00 pm] The entire day is yours to enjoy. Relax and acclimate to Leh’s high altitude. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Leh.

Leh (local sightseeing)

Thiksey Monastery - After breakfast, embark on local sightseeing. Visit Leh Palace, built in the 17th century, offering spectacular views of the Stok Kangri mountains and the Ladakh range from its rooftop. Visit Shey Palace & Monastery, constructed in 1665 by the King of Ladakh (Deldon Namgyal) as his summer retreat. Then, visit Thiksey Monastery, a prime example of Ladakhi architecture, located on a hill 20 kilometers from Leh. It is renowned for its resemblance to the Potala Palace of Lhasa. Return to the hotel by evening. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Leh.

Leh (local sightseeing)

Alchi Monastery - After breakfast, set out for a full-day sightseeing tour; visit the Hall of Fame (a renowned museum built by the Indian Army); Gurudwara Pathar Sahib (a beautiful Sikh Temple built in 1517 to honor Guru Nanak Dev’s visit to the Ladakh region), Magnetic Hill & Alchi Monastery (the monastery complex reflects the artistic and spiritual details of both Buddhism and the Hindu kings of that era in Kashmir, with wall paintings, large Buddha statues, and elaborate wood carvings and artwork — almost baroque in style). Also, visit Sangam (the confluence of the Zanskar & Indus rivers), a very picturesque site. Return to Leh by evening and visit Shanti Stupa, a Buddhist white-domed stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa, built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura, as part of the Peace Pagoda mission. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Leh.

Leh – Nubra Valley

Nubra Valley - After breakfast, drive from Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung-La Pass (18380ft) – one of the world’s highest motorable roads. The valley is located about 159 km from Leh. The route will be Leh – Phyang – Khardung La – Khalsar – Diskit – Nubra Valley. This valley is a pristine destination for those seeking peace and interaction with the tribal community of Ladakh. The Sasser Pass and the famous Karakoram Pass of the Silk Route fame lie to the northwest of the valley and connect Nubra with Xinjiang (China). You will also see the goats that produce the famous Pashmina shawls. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Nubra Valley.

Nubra Valley (local sightseeing)

Diskit Gompa - After breakfast, embark on a Nubra Valley sightseeing tour. Visit Diskit Monastery, the largest and oldest surviving monastery in Nubra Valley. The main attraction of the Diskit monastery is the 100 feet high Maitreya Buddha statue, inaugurated by the holy Dalai Lama. Afterwards, visit Hunder Sand Dunes. Enjoy a ride on the rare Bactrian Camel (double-humped camel), which is a must-try. Later, visit Panamic Hot Springs where you can take a bath. Bathing in the hot sulfur spring is considered beneficial for the skin. Return to the hotel by evening. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Nubra Valley.

Nubra Valley – Pangong Lake

Pangong Tso - After breakfast, drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake. This endorheic Himalayan Lake is situated at an altitude of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It stretches 134 km (83 mi) from India to China. Check-in to the camps offering unparalleled views of the surrounding mountain ranges and a stunning view of Pangong Lake. Its water is salty, crystal clear, and has a beautiful shade of blue, looking its best when the sun is shining brightly. The evening is yours to enjoy. You can also indulge in a Yak Safari. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the camps near Pangong Lake.

Pangong Lake – Leh

Hemis Monastery - After breakfast, drive from Pangong Lake to Leh. On the way, visit Hemis Monastery, revered as the largest monastic institution in Ladakh. It is the wealthiest Buddhist monastery in India and is famous for its rich collection of ancient relics like the statue of Buddha made of copper, and stupas made of gold and silver. The monastery also houses sacred Thangkas, murals, and various artifacts. Arrive in Leh in the evening and check-in at the hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Leh.

Leh (departure)

Leh - After an early breakfast, check-out from the hotel. A private car will drop you at Leh airport for your return flight. All good things come to an end. Depart with wonderful memories of this amazing trip to Leh-Ladakh, worth cherishing for a lifetime.
