Zion National Park - This is Utah’s most diverse, oldest, and most visited national park, covering an area of 229 square miles (593 square kilometers). It features a spectacular canyon with towering, steep rock formations and a deep, shadowy canyon floor. The canyon is both narrow and deep, and the view from the canyon floor looking up at the sheer cliffs is truly breathtaking. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, where you can spot some charming animals like bighorn sheep and small squirrels.
Bryce Canyon National Park - Known for its stunning and unique rock formations, is a true gem among Utah’s national parks. Spanning 56 square miles (145 square kilometers), the park is renowned for its otherworldly landscape of hoodoos—tall, thin spires of rock that create an intricate and colorful array of shapes. These formations, sculpted by erosion, rise dramatically from the canyon floor, offering a surreal and picturesque vista. The park’s high elevation and diverse habitats provide a haven for wildlife, where you might encounter graceful mule deer and the elusive mountain lion. The view from Bryce’s many viewpoints, with its expansive, panoramic scenes of these striking formations, is nothing short of mesmerizing.
Arches National Park - Monument Valley
Arches National Park - Arches National Park is a captivating landscape, renowned for its unique geological formations and striking scenery. Covering an area of 76,519 acres (30,298 hectares), this park is famous for its stunning collection of natural arches and rock formations, shaped by millions of years of wind and water erosion. The park’s rugged terrain features over 2,000 natural stone arches, including the iconic Delicate Arch and Landscape Arch. The diverse landscapes offer breathtaking views from various vantage points, with dramatic red rock formations contrasting against the clear desert sky. Visitors may also spot a variety of wildlife, such as desert bighorn sheep and curious rock wren birds, making each visit a memorable adventure amidst this geological wonderland.
Monument Valley - Straddling the border of Utah and Arizona, is a quintessential symbol of the American West. Spanning over 91,000 acres (37,000 hectares), this iconic landscape is renowned for its towering red sandstone buttes, mesas, and spires, which rise majestically from the desert floor. The valley’s striking formations, shaped by millennia of erosion, create a dramatic and picturesque panorama that has been featured in countless films and photographs. With its expansive skies and vibrant rock colors, Monument Valley offers a mesmerizing experience of solitude and natural grandeur. Visitors might also encounter Navajo culture and traditions, enriching their journey through this breathtaking and culturally significant landscape.
Antelope Canyon - Grand Canyon National Park - Seligman
Antelope Canyon - One of the most unique tourist destinations in the world, Lower Antelope Canyon is among the top 20 most unusual places to visit globally. Formed by wind and water sculpting sandstone, it creates an abstract natural landscape.
Lower Antelope Canyon is one of the world’s famous slot canyons, located near Lake Powell in southern Arizona. In the Navajo language, it is called “Hasdeztwazi,” which means “spiral rock arches.” From above, the canyon may look like any other in Arizona, but from the bottom, you feel as though you are inside a finely crafted piece of art. Some parts of the canyon are so narrow that only one person can pass through at a time.
Grand Canyon National Park - From the overlook, you can see a small glimpse of the Colorado River, the phantom ranch at the canyon’s base, and the countless intersecting trails. The view from the Desert View Watchtower provides a unique perspective of the eastern Grand Canyon. From this vantage point, looking northeast, you can catch a distant view of the Colorado River transitioning from the relatively narrow Marble Canyon to the broader, more expansive Grand Canyon. Standing on the canyon’s edge and gazing at the vast, sweeping landscape evokes a sense of tranquility.
Seligman - Relocated to its current site, the entire town of Seligman—including all its houses and other buildings—was moved brick by brick from its original location over a mile southwest. This move also included the famous Santa Fe Railroad’s “Harvey House - Road House.” As a result, Seligman has earned the nickname “The Most Mobile Town in the American West.” Additionally, Disney used this town as the inspiration for the acclaimed animated film “Cars.” Walking through the town, you can often see the iconic Route 66 markings, many anthropomorphized cars, and historical western architecture from America’s frontier era, making it feel like you’ve stepped into a time tunnel back to the 1920s and ‘30s in the American West.
