  • Salpalinja - The Salpa Line fortification dates back to the Second World War. During that period, the Finns constructed a defensive line stretching 1300 km. You can observe the old fortifications near Lappeenranta City center and along the hiking trails. While you can explore these sites on your own, a guided tour is highly recommended.
    Your guide will delve into the history of the Salpa Line fortification, the construction process, and its significance to Finnish defense strategy during World War II. On the guided tour, you’ll have the opportunity to enter the fortifications built during the war. The largest of these are three-story sleeping bunkers that housed 60-120 soldiers.
