Discover St. Joseph Plantation with a 60-minute guided tour of the “Manor Home.” St. Joseph Plantation is one of the few completely preserved sugar plantations in the River Parishes, offering a comprehensive historical timeline from its construction to the present. Besides the Manor Home, the site includes numerous outbuildings for guests to explore, such as original slave cabins, a detached kitchen, blacksmith’s shop, schoolhouse, and chicken coop. While some buildings have been relocated from other parts of the property, most remain in their original locations. Visitors may recognize familiar scenes and landscapes that have been featured in popular films and shows like The Skeleton Key, the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave, Mudbound, Underground, Roots, and Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar.

Focusing on its era as a working sugarcane plantation, visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibits, stroll under the iconic Allée, engage with staff, and gain a deeper, more meaningful understanding of the plantation’s history.
