• The Hope Slide - It’s worthwhile to explore the Hope Slide. Keeping an open mind and pausing to appreciate the sights along the journey is important, as many rush to their next destination, missing the joy of the journey itself.

• Othello Tunnels - A short visit to the tunnels is highly recommended as a highlight of the highway five route. Unfortunately, the tunnels area suffered severe damage from the notorious Atmospheric River storm in November 2021.

• Merritt - Comstock Road, along with other forestry roads in the area, forms part of a stage in the annual Canadian Rally Championships.

• Coldwater River Provincial Park - The valley’s base is home to the Coldwater River, named after the Coldwater Indian Band, who inhabited the area before European settlers arrived. Their story mirrors that of many First Nations groups in Canada.

• Nicola River - Flowing through Merritt, the Nicola and Coldwater rivers converge. This river has historically posed challenges for the town, often associated with flooding.

• Surrey Lake Summit - Reaching the Surrey Lake Summit at an elevation of 1,440 meters (4,737 feet), this is the highest point on the Coquihalla Highway. While winter can bring harsh conditions, the area is generally pleasant outside of the season.

• Logan Lake - Originally a mining camp, Logan Lake remains centered around mining, hosting North America’s largest open-pit copper mine.
