Catalina Island is lovely... - Catalina Island is lovely but this was a 12.5 hour day - 7 hours of which was spent trying to get to and from the boat for only 20 mins of pretty average snorkeling! It took 4 hours from my scheduled pick-up time to when we got on the water and 3 hours going back. I wouldn't recommend trying to do a day trip from Uvero Alto/Punta Cana to Catalina Island - it didn't feel worth it. The tour operator also wasn't proactively communicative about the pick-up time so I assumed that the info on Viator was accurate and missed my first pick-up and had to reschedule for another day. At one transfer point, my bus nearly left me behind and then on the trip back, we did leave behind another couple and they had to run down the street to catch us. So, bottom line, the time actually spent at Catalina was lovely, but getting there and back was disorganized and painful. Also, it seems like all of the tour operators aggregate their customers into just a few buses, so I'm not sure it would be any better with a different company.
