Peace and tranquility - Lovely day, we booked through TUI they collected us to and from our hotel.
We partied on a catamaran to get there, plenty of rum and dancing. Stopped off in the middle of the ocean, in a natural pool where we saw star fish and looked through crystal clear water. Then carried on to the island where we stayed for 3 hours. Lunch was provided fried meats, salad and pasta. We then swam in the Caribbean Sea and toured the island.

10/10 experience. Better than atvs - We got picked up at Rio Republica with a smiling face and on time. We then stopped at at the gift shop and headed to the beach. We got to the port and jumped onto the speed boat. So much fun to the first stop with water waist high. Then headed to the island and food and drinks were served. Then took back a different sail boat back to the dock. The sail boat had drinks and entertainment! Really good experience. Better experience than the atvs. The driver was really cool. All the staff was. Our guide looked like Aqua Man and he knew everyone and was well liked and respected. 10/10 experience

Fab trip but avoid the food - So this trip was absolutely great and the island is stunning! HOWEVER, myself, my husband and another person we know from our tour have all got very sick from the food served on the island. I ended up in hospital for a night.
So whilst I would 1000% recommend this trip, I recommend steering clear of the cooked foods and sticking with the fruit/salad only. The island has no electricity so it’s understandable food hygiene isn’t to the best standards.
Shoutout to our amazing tour guide Carlos and the beautiful photographer that came along on our tour. She takes as many pics as you’d like, on the catamaran, island and in the natural pools and pics are $10 or 10 for $50.
The island is absolutely stunning and a must see. The catamaran there was so much fun with beautiful views, unlimited drinks and a party. We had over 3 hours to relax on the island. You can buy coconuts and pineapples on the island for $5 which are lovely also. The boat and drive back were also fab

A tropical Island but not truly Pristine.. - Pick up from hotel was well organised with time sent night before & Driver on time..The main driver after transfer at service station was a bit miserable and did not seem to like people eating on his bus despite most people being picked up early in morning and probably not having had breakfast at hotel..Tour guide and his photographer companion an absolutely fantastic team and very supportive to us with a young child..The trip itself was as advertised ,it is a party boat to get there or back depending on which direction they use for the Catermaran . We are in no way the club 18 to 30 party type who would normally pick a party boat for entertainment and are certainly not into drinking rum and coke at 1030 to 11am..That said the mixture of latin and European music and those who want to drink and dance having fun certainly helps to make a long boat trip entertaining..The blue water natural pool you stop at on the way to Saona is very good .On arrival at Saona Island you are treated to a very good Dominican buffet with a lot of variety and extremely well cooked food ,drinks are plentiful both soft and alcoholic..The Island itself is a tropical Island but it the area you visit has structures to support the day trips and is not as such a truly tropical Island escape, more accurately I would call it a beach on a tropical Island designed to cater for a high turnover of tourists..By the time you have had the buffet lunch, time on the Island is limited whatever tour operators claim in their selling literature, the logistics of getting to and from Saona make a long time spent on the Island itself impossible we had about 1 hour 15 mins of free time after eating..The trip back in the speedboat was by far the better way to travel for ourselves..Transfer back to the hotel was OK apart from the driver , who did not want anybody eating in the morning was now OK with such things and when the tour guide was absent from the bus the driver was holding up his phone with his wife on the screen asking us all for money ..Transfer from main bus to mini bus back to hotel was well organised..An very enjoyable day out all in all definitely worth doing.

Extend beach times - This excursion had it's moments good and bad! First and foremost, most of this trip is spent driving back and forth to hotel picking up or dropping off visitors. The long boat ride to the natural pool was exciting and the natural pool was beautiful, we spent 40 minutes here. Once done, we spend another 25 minutes heading to the actual island. At the island, you are asked to quickly claim a beach chair and head to the buffet. We spend 30 minutes on line for food, which was very unorganized. While waiting on this line, we were told we will be on the island for 1 hour and half. Mind you, we had already killed an hour to get food and eat. We actually only enjoyed 20 minutes on the beach before they started calling for us to get back on the boat to the catamaran. The catamaran ride back to the port was 1 hour and 30 minutes. This ride back consisted of music, hot sun, and alot of alcoholic beverages. Although, it was fun and I would have enjoyed more time on the actual beach.

Very underwhelming - The boat ride out was nice but crowded. The ride back in the catamaran was way too crowded and uncomfortable. Open bar was only warm rum and coke all day, not a fan. Danny Boy was a great guide. And the scenery was beautiful. Every thing was overcrowded and the food was terrible. Bring water with you.
