Amazing experience - We had a fantastic time. You make your adventure. I can read on the comments people being close minded about the dancing, the drinking and the fun on the boat. It’s a different culture. If you are not from here it might be shocking but non the less it was fun. As a fellow Hispanic, we had a blast. We had our 1 year old baby and they were extremely accommodating. Great customer service from the time we were picked up. The transportation does take a bit of time but the island and the beach pool are both gorgeous! Highly recommend it

Paradise needs attention - This place is majestic... unfortunately not all tourists are going to the Island for its beauty but to get completely wasted on their way there. Excursions don't care much about their paradise but to get you there and make you pay a ridiculous amount of money for pictures on the famous palm tree showcased here with a line-up long enough for you not no enjoy the beach during the short-term visit.

Long long day for only 2 hours on the beach - It took over 6 hours of traveling to get to the island for only 2 hours on the island. The island was beautiful and so was the water. Just know what you’re getting into before you go. You don’t get breakfast either, you do get lunch once you get to the island.

Saona Island - If you are staying in an all-inclusive, you lose money by going to Saona. It takes you 12 hours and you are on the island for less than 3 hours. The island is beautiful, although the day we went it had sargassum, it was not as appreciated. We didn't see starfish. Too many people, too many!! Boats, catamarans, boats, all very close to the shore, something that does not allow you to enjoy the sea as much. The journey is extremely tiring. Many stops and bus changes!! Find out well what the transfer is like before hiring. Basic food, but you understand that you are on an island. When you arrive, the avalanche of vendors comes.

Disappointment! Predatory tourism!! - Predatory tourism!! I was sad and ashamed to have participated in this tourist fraud and environmental degradation. I do not know which part of the island you show in these images, but what I saw was a complete lack of structure, a degraded beach, full of scattered garbage (plastic, glass, food...). And animals, only dead... We booked the tour of the Hotelbeds offered by the company Maxi International Center Tours which picked us up and left us at the hotel at the agreed time. The Guide 'Dany Boy' picked us up at 7:50h and tried to encourage and guide the group during the trip of almost 1:30h to the port of Bayahibe where we picked up a catamaran. Until then, it's fine. On the catamaran journey we took almost 2h until the first stop, a sand bank with crystal clear water and beautiful blue color. Wonderful! During the trip we served Coca-Cola and rum and the animators made the trip more pleasant. We stayed 30 minutes in this paradise and headed for Saona. After another 35 minutes by boat, we picked up boats to land on the beach. Dangerous landing for people with little mobility. On the island there were muuuuuita people. We were directed to a tent where we received guidance on lunch, served there, on plastic dishes that from time to time flew on the sand. The drink was again Coca-Cola, rum and water. The food, camping. After lunch we tried to get into the sea. On the beach there was no room in the sand!! The sun loungers were all broken, dirty, people were fighting broken chairs and the shadow of a few coconuts. The sea was beautiful, on the horizon only. On the beach there is a lot of coral and stones and the winds of the boats stir all the water and it becomes impossible to enter the sea. At that time we were sitting in the tent, which was the only place possible to sit, with an immense heat, no water in the bathroom, already precarious and, amazement, NO DRINKING WATER!! The water ended after 1:30 when we were on the island. We decided to walk left towards an area with more coconut trees and shade. All depredated and destroyed. Abandoned! Broken kiosks, tables and chairs thrown, garbage everywhere!!! Pineapple, dishes with food.the place parce that maybe one day was a bar or something. A disgust... Sad!! The sea was still full of dead rocks and corals. But there was still broken glass on the rocks and the floor. Impossible a sea bath to refresh. It smells rotten. The view from the sea horizon was wonderful, but the island was ruined by predatory exploitation and garbage. We're waiting for the time to come back. Like everyone on the tour, before the agreed time we were eager to get out of there. The round trip, speedboat, took 35 min. Everyone on the boat was sad. But the Captain insisted on keeping a very loud sound, despite the requests and the people with their hands tapping their ears. Again without drinking water. Then, another 1:30h of bus trip with controversial and uninteresting stops, we managed to arrive at the hotel. We're exhausted and sad that we've wasted 10 hours of our lives on this. The company Maxi International Center Tours (Telephone +1 829 986 2790) should be ashamed to offer this to anyone! And the Dominican Republic authorities should regulate this tourism better.
