Highlights

La Paz to Copacabana to Isla del Sol

La Paz - Hotel pick up in La Paz and depart at 7:00 am to the Tiquina crossing. Arrive by 9.45 AM. Cross the lake on rafts and arrive in Copacabana by 11:45AM

Copacabana - Around 11:45 AM, you will arrive in Copacabana and have an hour free before the boat departure at 1:00 pm.

Comunidad Yumani - At 1:00 pm, the boat departs to Isla del Sol, from the White Anchor. Drop off at Yumami on the south end of the island.
NOTE:
Entry fee in the Island is NOT included.
10BS per person to be payed in cash to the community

Isla del Sol - From 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, you will be able to walk around the sun temple Pilkokaina and the coast of Yumani.

You will have the rest of the afternoon free.

Isla del Sol to Copacabana to La Paz

Isla del Sol - You have free time to explore the Isla del Sol. Some recommendations:

Take a public boat to the northern end of the island (aprox. 30 minutes) and take a 3 hour hike back down to the south alongside spectacular views.

The Gold Museum - Situated in the north end of the island is a tiny, but fascinating museum filled with recovered artifacts.

The Fountain of Youth - Believed to keep you young forever, it has 3 streams of water pouring out each with their own nickname.

Copacabana - At 3:30 PM you will go on the boat will depart to Copacabana from Yumani port. Arriving around 5:00 pm.

You will have about 45 minutes in Copacana, before the bus departs back to La Paz. You may want to grab some food before the bus departs.

La Paz - At 6pm, the bus departs towards La Paz from the White Anchor. At 6:00 pm, you will go through the Tiquina crossing and arriving in La Paz around 10:30 pm.

Additional Information

Embark on a two-day journey from La Paz to the picturesque lakeside town of Copacabana. You’ll have the opportunity to explore Copacabana, and also go on an afternoon boat ride on Lake Titicaca, to the ‘Island of the Sun’, a location rich in Inca myths. You will overnight on Isla del Sol.

The following morning is at your disposal for further exploration. If you like, you can tour the southern part of the island, complete with breathtaking views, the Gold Museum, and the Fountain of Youth.

Fabulous experience. - I used Peru hop to travel around Peru and continued with Bolivia hop through Bolivia. Both companies were great and on the whole the organisation, guides and tour options were great. This was particularly the case with BoliviaHop who’s guides Peter, Abner and Luis were extremely kind and friendly. Very well organised and went the extra mile to make late night journeys comfortable and hotel transfers swift. Thank you guys will recommend you to all my friends.

Impressive tour with superb guide (Abner) who took great care of minutest details to make it unforgettable experience! - Absolutely spotless tour and one of the best guides (Abner) we had in our travel experience of 70+ countries. Taking this tour is not only about making your traveller’s life easier. I don’t think you can get the same experience by organising trip on your own. There’s clearly added value in travelling with Bolivia Hop. They thought about the minutest details to make the trip extremely comfortable and unforgettable. Everything was sharp on time. We even received souvenirs at the end of the trip. Regarding the destination and views, you can hardly get better ones anywhere in the world. Overall, amazing!

Hassle free - Good trip, nice easy way to go from Peru to Bolivia hassle free. First bus was super comfy from Cusco to the border. Would use the company again. Your guides were helpful and spoke great English

Excellent customer care by Bolivia Hop guides - The tour guides going and returning, Peter and Albero were both on the ball. They told us during the bus trip when we would be stopping for refreshments/toilet stops, what sights we would see as we drove along, at the Tiquina straights they made sure we knew where to go for the crossing where to wait and checked numbers to make sure no one was missing. Same attention to detail at the Copacabana to Isla del Sol crossing. The company give a map of Copacabana to ensure everyone can find the departure point, there is also a map of Isla del Sol - but only the area where they offer a walk which meets up with the boat at Yumani port.

Team work that surrounds travelers with confidence! - One choices travel companies as much for trust as much as local knowledge, Bolivia Hop has it all, in transferring to smaller buses I discovered I left my Camera bag with laptop on the bus, I was able to pick up my camera bag next morning because of great work of the Bolivia Team Estela, Alvaro and Luis. I have so much gratitude 🙏

Good, safe, reliable. - The bus was on time, clean, and safely driven. The drive and tour guide were professional and very helpful crossing the border. I removed 1 star only because I didn't feel the Isla del Sol trip was worthwhile.

Not great - I hate to write a negative review but this was not a good experience. We did the 24 hour journey from Cusco to La Paz. On the Peruvian side everything was fine. The guide was helpful with the boarder crossing. Unfortunately once we crossed over to Bolivia it wasn’t so good. Cococabana was a strange place. Super ran down and not friendly. We then got on a smaller bus (not comfortable) to La Paz but half way needed to get off to get a boat across the lake. The boat was falling apart!! Massively overcrowded and unsafe. The engine cut out when we were in the water in the pitch black of night. Not good.
