Amazing unique experience - What a great experience! My two children learned so much today about coffee, but also now love mango, lychee and avocado because they had the unique experience of eating them from the plant. We bought some amazing coffee at the end. Manolo Mateus speaks at least 5 languages and entertained us all the way round. I can’t believe this tour cost so little! If arriving by taxi, let him know in advance so he can meet you to bring you up the hill. There is no Uber service for return so you need to organise a lift to the main town or book a local taxi. You could also make a day of visiting beach towns La Herrera or Almuñécar.

A little bit of paradise - Manolo’s recount of his family history and how the farm came to be was so interesting. He added a gentle humour which all ages appreciated too . You can see and smell amazing results of his hard work and the farm is such a joy to walk through . A morning to awaken the senses and a well worth trip to do .

Feedback on our visit + advice - A really nice visit. The guide (whose name I already forgot, perhaps manual ) super nice, and passionate! It’s a family farm whose adventures he tells and how he turns it is really fun. I had a pollen allergy, and yet I was absolutely unaffected. I recommend if you want a nice visit to do and that does not take too much time. Tips: put in the gps “the Herradura coffee farm”, we have the impression that there is nothing because we arrive at a turning point, but it is there! We probably have to walk 1-2 km, so it’s pretty chill. Taking sunscreen, we are not very in the shade He spoke a little French, but understanding English is still necessary!

I wish we had done this earlier in the week so we could have taken home more produce! - This was so much better than we expected. It is not that we had low expectations, it’s more that the tour guide was so funny and Interesting and generous and he could’ve actually been a stand-up comedian. His story is so compelling with his family, and his warmth shown through his stories. Plus, we love supporting local farms, and even have a CSA (community supported agriculture) here where we live, and we pick up a box of farm goodness every week. This was so special. My only comment is that we should have done it earlier in the week, as this would have been a delightful way to buy local avocados etc., and then enjoy them at the beginning of our trip, rather than at the end. We would’ve bought more! We also were able to take home some very special products, including the coffee. What a delightful way to spend a morning!
