Highlights
  • La Fortuna de San Carlos - The horseback riding adventure begins at the base of the Arenal Volcano on our private farm, surrounded by natural beauty and farm animals. There, customers will meet our beautiful, healthy and safe horses, which for years have been trained to perform this activity. Our tour guide will provide customers with the basic training in order for them to ride the horse in the proper way.

Our horses know the pathway very well, so customers can enjoy the tour without any worries. One of the most impressive tourist attractives are the craters caused by ancient volcanic eruptions. As customers travel through our pastures will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Arenal Volcano, the lake and they may have the luck to find beautiful birds, as orioles, toucans and hopefully many other animals that inhabit this amazing place. Also, we take the customers to our beautiful organic gardens where they usually get impressed by the size of our vegetables and for the different varieties.

At the end we will take customers to our beautiful veranda where they can learn the history that lies behind the impressive Arenal Volcano and its beautiful lake.

Beautiful Views of Arenal - Andres was a lovely guide. Very accommodating for our group and very fun during the ride. It was a simple ride - nothing crazy - but the horses were well behaved and the location was stunning with beautiful views of Arenal. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel - the whole thing was about 2.5 hours from pickup to drop off and would recommend for a nice leisurely day with some great views.

Amazing horseback riding with Salvador - Amazing trip with the horses around the volcano with scenic views and an amazing tour guide, Salvador. He was attentive, extremely helpful with recommendations and tips on how to ride the horse and for places around to eat and have fun. The tour lasted around 2 hours, and we were the only ones, it felt like a private tour. They even picked us up from our hotel and drove to the ranch.

Great tour with a careful/nice guide and views - Had a private tour because it was low season. Got to galop all I liked with great horses. Paths are great. Very secured.

Single file riding - We rode through some beautiful countryside. However, our guides didn’t really speak any English. So we didn’t know where & what we were seeing. If you don’t mind staying in a single line, this might work for you.

Certainly worth doing - This was the first experience of horse riding for my girlfriend and I, and it’s safe to say it won’t be our last. Our lovely guide showed us the basics of control and speed, and made sure we had horses that were friendly and knew the route. Overall, lovely, relaxing and leisurely, and a great way to take in the breathtaking landscape. An interesting mix of terrain too – but make sure to wear boots and trousers if it’s recently been raining, as it can get very muddy! The negative thing, was that the session started an hour late (despite there only being two of us on the session), and that we finished a bit earlier than we were supposed to; so we didn’t feel we got our complete money’s worth. But I can’t fault the friendliness of the staff. They were great.

It was just that - a horseback ride - I went for the ride with my two kids thinking I would also learn a bit about volcano and/or see wildlife. But it was merely a horseback ride.
