Highlights
  • Tenryuji Temple - Meet your guide at JR Kyoto Station and begin your journey to Arashiyama Station. Explore the Arashiyama area with your guide, starting with Tenryuji Temple, built in 1339 by Takauji Ashikaga.
  • Togetsukyo Bridge - After visiting the temple, we will walk through the bamboo grove to Togetsukyo Bridge. This bridge has been a landmark in Arashiyama for over 400 years. The wooden bridge spans the Katsuragawa River and offers a stunning view.

It’s time for lunch! There are numerous restaurants and food stalls along the river. You can either dine in a restaurant or sample various street foods. If you finish lunch early, you can shop for souvenirs on the bustling shopping street.

  • Koju Ninenzaka - After enjoying your meal, our afternoon continues with a traditional Japanese art experience – koboshi. These traditional Japanese dolls date back to the 14th century and are considered good luck charms symbolizing resilience.

You can keep the koboshi as a memento of your trip or as a gift for someone special.

  • Ryoanji Temple - Following the art experience, we will visit Ryoanji Temple and its famous rock garden. These traditional Japanese dry landscape gardens contain abstract Zen dialogues within the landscape, with some featuring stone recreations of notable scenes from Japanese history.

  • Kinkakuji Temple - Our final stop is Kinkakuji, officially known as Rokuonji, a Zen temple. It is one of Kyoto’s most popular attractions, drawing many visitors each year.

The complex includes gardens and buildings centered around the Golden Pavilion, said to evoke an earthly paradise.
