Great! - Our guide was great! It was private with just myself and my husband. Our guide took us to some great spots. It was also super flexible so we could try what we wanted, rather than sticking to specific foods. Although our guide was great at recommending stuff! My only critique would be to make it clearer the tour has a more flexible approach as it wasn't clear when we booked. I would suggest making that clearer on the booking itself. Regardless, would recommend!

Great food tour with fun, charming, handsome guide. The BEST!!!! - Our favorite Viator experience! A charming, delightful, fun, smart guide was our escort through a crowded market, stopping at a variety of stalls to introduce us to food he said were his favorites--all delicious (couldn't eat the live octopus pieces!). Had a great sense of humor; took us to a restaurant where we had drinks and fun games while sampling food. Loved the experience. Especially because the guide was TERRIFIC!!!!

Great time eating with Boris - We had a fantastic time touring Nishiki Market and the department store area with Boris. He was a great guide and shared a lot of fun stories and facts about the market. We really enjoyed all the food and the snacks, and how easy he made everything.

Fun at Nishiki market - Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took us through the food displays of a modern department store snd then through the old Nishiki market. The contrast was great. He purchased food items for us to try and educated us on those items. We enjoyed the tour and glad we did it.

Fun tour! - Super fun tour with Katz. So glad for the department store food portion of the tour. I would not have had any idea how cool this was. We went back several times! My girls weren’t as into trying all the things but we found success ;) Thank you, Katz!

AMAZING!!!!! - Boris was an "ABSOLUTE HERO". My cab driver got miserably LOST. Boris communucated with me to get us there. His first impression was a caring, sincere person who was very professional in his role and caring for the tourist joining him. He guided me thru the tour site explaining everything and more about the market. He picked out the besties and we sampled many foods. YUM!! I see him as a forever friend in meeting him for such a short time period. He was an impactful person in a beautiful way and so knowledgable about everything on his tour. Passionate about providing above and beyond in his role. As a hiring manager myself for decades in top corporations in the USA for decades. I'd hire him in a minute.

Room for improvement - We took this tour as part of our five-day trip through Kyoto. We were excited to explore the market with a guide, but we were a bit dispapointed overall. Our guide, Kats, was friendly but he didn't do a great job of explaining the history of the market and of the various foods we ate. He kind of just showed us some foods in Daimaru and Nishiki Market and bought them for us. Often, these were similar foods to what we got on food tours in Tokyo and Osaka. We felt that we could've done this ourselves and that the tour was not worth the cost we paid. I'd recommend Kats brush up on his story-telling and home in on foods, or variations of foods, that you can only get in Kyoto.

Food market tour - Friendly and approachable guide, we would have preferred more local information and history of the food and the market. There were plenty of tasting opportunities
