The first thing I'd do in Kyoto. - Did this as part of a bigger trip through Japan with the family - wife and teenage daughter. First off, Pohan is a great guy: friendly, approachable, and laid back. For those that care his English is very good. We took 3 e-bikes and the half-day Kyoto tour and were in a group of about 10. The bikes were in good condition, he supplied padlocks, helmets and water and knew his way around. We visited 3 of the major sites in the city, The Kinkakuji Temple, the Bamboo Forest and the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and Pohan knew his stuff about all of them, took time to make sure we all moved through at a comfortable pace and guided us through the streets safely. The price of his ticket included the entry price to the places we visited and we didn't have to queue. We stopped for lunch at a place he knew which gave some insight into the less commercial side of the city and half way round we were all flagging a bit due to the heat and he produced ice packs for all of us that he'd obviously been carrying all day! It's little things like that you remember. Top work! As far as I'm concerned this is a must-do on your first day in Kyoto. Firstly you get a good idea of the overall layout of the city, you see and experience more on a bike than you do on foot and it's more immediate on a bike than in a car. You get to cross off several of the big things to see but actually get to 'see' them as Pohan seems in no rush and provides lots of information. It was a really good tour, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and I'd have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Pohan and Memory Bike Tours to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Well worth the money! Two thumbs up! - We had an amazing experience and would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see some beautiful Temples, a shrine and the bamboo forest. Our guide, Pohon, provided us details on some of the Japanese customs, rituals, history, etc. and was friendly and great company. The e-bikes were newer and worked well. I definitely recommend the e-bikes unless you are in excellent shape and ride a bike all the time. This was a highlight from our time in Kyoto. Be proud Japan. Your country is beautifull. Thanks Pohon for showing us several beautiful areas of Kyoto. My daughter said the Bamboo Forest was the most beautiful place she has ever seen. Worth the money and give it two thumbs up!

That’s the way to do it! The most personable guide, Pohan! Fantastic bikes and hidden Kyoto treasures. Lucky find! - Pohan, our guide went over the expected to see that all had a good time. Some really quirky places visited and the best lunch in Kyoto so far. Bikes are of high spec and just whizzed through the streets of Kyoto. The best way to see all this in this heat. This was the most fun activity so far. Thank you Pohan!

Fun Way to Explore Kyoto! - This tour is great for families and groups looking for ways to enjoy seeing the streets and sights of Kyoto. We are a family of 4 (2 parents and 2 teens) and we all enjoyed it. Bohan was great and took us to a fantastic Udon / noodle restaurant that I'm sure we wouldn't have found ourselves. All together the bike ride was about 13 miles. You're riding on streets and sidewalks. And Kyoto in July is hot and humid. So prepare accordingly and pay for the upgrade to e-bikes!

Great tour! - The tour was great, we visited beautiful temples and shrines under the supervision of our guide Pohan. He gave a lot of information and sometimes also took the task of a photographer for the participants. He was very helpful and kind. We had electric bicycles because I was 26 weeks pregnant. The pace was good, everybody could keep up (there were also some kids in the tour) The bicycles were very decent and well maintained. The bikes didn’t have a luggage rack or basket so you have to keep it on your back during the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour!

BEST way to see Kyoto! - In my opinion, the BEST way to see some of the key sites in Kyoto. On the day we went it was about 37 degrees C, and we were struggling to motivate ourselves to go outside in the heat. However, by e-bike the heat was perfectly manageable. Pohan is charming and very knowledgeable, the bikes were very good and the day was absolutely great. Pohan doesn't take more than 8 people at once, so it makes it a very friendly group size. I would highly recommend and would definitely do it again.

Great bike tour! - Pohan did a nice job with our tour. Things started on time. The equipment was in good condition. Our kiddo had a few minutes in the parking lot to get used to a new bike. We had a HOT day but the pacing was good and the route felt safe. Overall, Pohan was considerate (making sure we knew what to expect, offering options for the heat, choices for lunch, etc.). The recommended lunch spot was delicious. Pohan was knowledgeable about the sites visited and we learned a lot about Japanese history and culture.

A great way to visit the sites in this part of Kyoto - A lovely way to see this part of Kyoto. After days of walking it was great to mix it up with an e-bike ride and give the feet a break! Our guide took us to all the stops outlined in the itinerary, assisted in taking photos and buying our tickets. The tour covers off everything you need to see in this part of Kyoto. Highly recommend upgrading to the e-bike. All the bikes appeared to be extremely well maintained.
