Engaging and Informative Gion Evening Walk with Knowledgeable Guide Kevin - We thoroughly enjoyed our evening walk through the Gion district with our guide, Kevin. Kevin, a native English speaker from Canada, was easy to understand and possessed extensive knowledge about Japan, having lived here for over 15 years. He was well-versed in the culture and provided insightful information, answering all our questions. Kevin also customized the tour to accommodate our family (2 adults and 3 kids aged 9, 12, and 15). Because we chose for the tour that started at 5 pm, we realized that it was going to be rather a late afternoon walk than a real night walk, but that was good because that allowed us to go and eat something afterwards.

Great tour!! - We had a wonderful tour with Shanda! (I'm not sure if I spelled her name right) First she did a presentation to tell us more about the geishas, or geikos as I've now learned to call them 😅. The tour itself was wonderful, Shania might have been the best tour guide I've has in a long time! She explained a lot about the Japanese culture, religion, language, she is so passionate and enthusiastic it's contagious! We had a great time!

See Gion at night, with a perfect itinerary for a small group - Interesting tour that covers aspects of culture and architecture with an emphasis on places of worship and their history. The tour ends with a visit to one of the corners of the Maiko and Geiko district of Gion. The tour is in a small group. And as it is a night visit there is practically no one, it allows to see these places with a different atmosphere than those of the masses.

5:30 pm walking tour with Shanda - Shanda is a really engaging and friendly tour guide who clearly has a passion for Japanese culture, history, religion and mythology, and this really shines through in the tour she leads. We took the 5:30pm tour, which was perfect as we were able to explore the temples and historic streets of Gion without having to navigate many crowds, and we could spend more time exploring/learning about each location because of that. We also liked the smaller tour group size.
