It was a very nice... - It was a very nice experience, after running around sightseeing, it brings you calmness. The whole ceremony is relaxing, but the host gives a lot of information about the process of making the matcha tea and the tradition of preparing it. At the end we prepared our own cup of tea and it was goooood!

Kotaro Crushed It - Kotaro-san guided us through the historical significance and the elegant grace of tea ceremonies. The matcha was delicious, and his performance was mesmerizing. We felt honored to be there. We went as part of our honeymoon and it was an unforgettable experience.

My family liked it! - Cool experience, a little short but still enjoyable and educational. If you can, do the private tea ceremony.

Great learning experience - Very informative and nice. We learned about matcha and how to make it while also watching the whole ritual be performed. Definitely something you should do while in Japan.

Excellent and informative tour! - A really informative tour where we learnt about the history of geisha in Kyoto. We visited the areas where the maiko live, the geisha school and the location of the teahouses. We even saw 3 geiko on our walk. Our guide, Yuki, was fantastic and well placed to give us lots of facts as his family had lived in Kyoto for 300 years. Learnt lots and had a great time.

Educational and enjoyable experience for all ages. - Our host was very calm and knowledgeable and she explained the ceremony well to us in English. We observed for the first part as she made the tea and then we all got to make our own. It felt authentic (for an obviously tourist-centric experience). We were a group of 8 (two related families) ranging from 9 to 51 years old and everyone enjoyed the experience and got something out of it. As we were a large group we didn't have anyone else with us as they limit group sizes - this made it more personal to us. The area where the tea-ceremony is held is very nice to walk around with lots of shops; so although the venue is slightly out of town (from the station at least) there are other things to do that would make the trip out here worthwhile. We spent about 3 1/2 hours in the area, including 50 minutes at the tea-ceremony and also having lunch.
