- Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - This is the house where the Virgin Mary is believed to have spent her final days. Nearby is the Basilica of St. John, where it is thought that the evangelist St. John spent his last years and was buried on the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill.
- Ancient City of Ephesus - This archaeological site at Ephesus beautifully balances historical preservation with visitor accessibility. Located on the southwest coast of modern Turkey, Ephesus was a hub of ancient civilizations, showcasing a rich blend of architecture and culture. In 356 BC, the Greeks constructed the Artemesium, a grand Ionic temple dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of fertility, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. By the 2nd century BC, Ephesus had become the fourth largest city in the eastern Roman Empire, renowned for its Artemesium, the Library of Celsus, and its medical school.
- The Temple of Artemis - The Temple of Artemis in Ionia at Ephesus, Turkey, was recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Originally built on a flat area that has since become a swamp, today only the ruins of this magnificent Hellenistic Age structure remain, made of marble and adorned with sculptured columns. The most exquisite remnants of this temple are displayed in the British Museum in London.
The oldest remains date back to the 6th century BC, surrounded by 36 massive columns. It was later expanded by the Lydian King Croesus during the 6th century BC. Many exhibits in the British Museum belong to this era.
A new Temple of Artemis was constructed in the 2nd century BC, built atop the previous one, featuring 121 columns each 17.5 meters high. Unfortunately, this temple was destroyed by fire, rebuilt, and then demolished again by earthquakes.
