Highlights
- Kruja Castle - The tour begins at the hotel at the scheduled time, where you’ll meet your guide. We will then drive to the city of Kruja (1h 30m).
- The first stop is Kruja Castle and the Skenderbeg Museum. Here, you’ll learn about the history of the Albanian people and their 15th-century resistance, led by national hero Skenderbeg, against the Ottoman Empire. Inside the castle, you can explore the old road and the castle houses, and take photos of the mountain and the city of Kruja.
- Next, you’ll visit the old Bazaar of Kruja. This bazaar is one of the oldest in Albania, with its original marketplace dating back over 400 years. The Ottoman-style bazaar stretches throughout the area.
- Durres - 3. The tour continues to the city of Durres, one of the oldest cities (founded in 627 B.C.). You’ll visit the amphitheater, built at the beginning of the 2nd century, the Old Byzantine Market, and the Venetian Tower. Later, you can enjoy a seafood lunch by the sea at one of the best restaurants in Durres (optional). After lunch, you can walk along the seashore promenade and have the opportunity to swim in the Adriatic Sea (optional).
- Byzantine Forum (Macellum) - Next, you’ll visit the Byzantine Forum, located in the center of Durres, as it was in the ancient city of Dyrrhachium or Dyrrah. It occupied a central position among other large public and religious constructions of the Byzantine period, built at the end of the 6th century during the reign of Roman Emperor Anastasios (481-518). Following this, you’ll walk along a street with Italian-style buildings from the time of King Zog. Afterward, you’ll return to your hotel in Tirana (1 hour).
- Durres Castle - Durres Castle is a 5th-century citadel founded by the supreme ruler of Byzantium, Anastasius.

Kruja Castle - Skerdi was a fantastic host who was attentive to me needs. The tour moved at a great pace. Kruja Castle and the museum were fantastic. The vista from the castle was particularly beautiful.

Great day tour from Tirana - Besnik, our tour guide was excellent. Both the Castle and Durrēs are worth the trip. Relaxed lunch looking the Adriatic Sea. We highly recommend the tour and Besnik.

A Short Escape from Tirana - It was a rainy day in Albania but Adi did not let the weather impact the tour. Adi picked me up right on time and was a safe driver. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy his job. We started first with Kruja and then after drove to Durres. Both towns are so different from Tirana that it was nice to experience more local food and places. Lunch was a delicious seafood/Italian place directly on the coast in Durres. I fully enjoyed my day exploring Albania with Adi. Thank you.

Great way to see two locations in short time - Our guide Adi was wonderful and made the trip enjoyable and informative. The Kruja castle and museum were the best part of the tour, but we did also enjoy the stop in Durres. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is the amount of time spent driving between locations. While Adi did continue to teach us about the surrounding areas we drove through, we would have preferred to have visited only one of the 2 locations and had a more in-depth experience.

Nice but rushed - Both Kruja Castle and the museum were great, and there was a lot of information about Albania history. Durness was pretty. Unfortunately our guide seemed to need to be back in Tirana for another pickup so we were rushed through the whole thing, and had no time for food or drink, we had just 20 mins in both places free time.
