Morning Mysteries: Unveiling the Mythical Origins
As the sun rises over the charming village of Krasi, the air is filled with the promise of adventure. The morning of April 19th is perfect for embarking on a journey through time, with temperatures starting at a crisp 50°F, ideal for a refreshing start. Begin your exploration with the Cave of Zeus Tour and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Cretan mythology. This full-day tour kicks off at 7:00 AM, whisking you away to the historic village of Mochos, where narrow lanes and vibrant gardens set the stage for a day steeped in history.
As you wander through the cobblestoned streets of Krasi, take a moment to rest under the ancient Writers’ Plane Tree, a living testament to the village’s storied past. The journey continues to the Diktaion Andron, the legendary birthplace of Zeus. Here, the breathtaking views of the Lasithi Plateau unfold before you, offering a glimpse into the island’s mythical landscapes. The tour also includes a visit to the Knosos Palace, where the echoes of Europe’s earliest civilization still resonate. A review from June 2023 captures the essence of this experience:
A day on Crete - Kostas is an experienced guide! He’s very responsive in his communications prior to the tour and is extremely flexible and helpful when figuring out the tour and the logistics of meeting up. He’s knowledgeable about the island and its history, and best of all, he’s intent on making your time with him relaxing and informative. The motor coach is spacious and comfortable, and Kostas’ English is impeccable. Visitors should know that he cannot accompany you into the archeological sites, as only licensed guides are permitted to provide tours within those locations - which is different from our experience in other countries. Aside from that, he can provide you with a fact-filled tour, and a relaxing day on Crete. (Reviewed at: 2023-06-20)

The tour also includes a stop at the Aposelemis Dam, where the sunken village of Sfendyli peeks through the water’s surface, offering a hauntingly beautiful sight. A recent review from April 2025 highlights the tour’s appeal:
10 out of 10 trip, highly recommend especially with Kids - This was a fantastic trip, great with kids, lots of regular stops to see something interesting, milking goats, making flour, make your own pottery, cookery lesson and the list goes on! The land rovers were fun, with a mix of other travellers was perfect. Lunch was great, our guide VaGelis and his team mate George were really great and well informed. 10/10 from us!
