Great half day tour - This was a great tour on a hot day! We got a full Island tour and Resine was very knowledgeable. I recommend this tour if you're not into snorkeling or beaches and scuba diving

Our second time touring with this amazing company! - This is our second time touring with Shekkinah Tours. We love to visit to Bonaire and this tour takes you across both the north and south parts of the island. Our guide Renny was wonderful. There was a glitch in our tour an we were supposed to be taking a private tour with four people and we were inadvertently put into a larger group. Renny Immediately remedied the situation and he created a new time slot a few hours later, which worked fine. I received a call almost immediately from the owner of the company apologizing for the mixup. All's well that ends well and I appreciated it so much their immediate resolution of the situation and their amazing customer service. The car we traveled in was new, comfortable and air-conditioned. We had plenty of room. Renny was our tour guide, he knows the island so well and knows the history of the island . His sharing of information was always interesting and informative. It would not have been the same trip without all the commentary about the island and its amazing history and culture. Everywhere we went, we received information, not only about the history of the island, but also about the vegetation, the climate, the animals, and even the insects that inhabit of the island. He shared his wealth of knowledge with us, which made the trip so fantastic. We learned so many things so it really wasn't driving around looking at the island, it was an educational event learning about the culture and the history of this amazing place. As I mentioned, this was our second trip. Our prior guide was just as informative, but having visited twice and taking a similar tour, I was not bored for a moment because there was so much to learn and so much to see even on the second visit. The tour included seeing the salt flats where salt is harvested after solar evaporation and we learned the how this industry had contributed to the island and its development. Salt is still being mined and we were able to collect several of the large salt crystals to bring home. We watched salt being loaded via a huge long conveyor belt to a nearby ship. It was quite a process. We also learned about the slaves whose labor was used to collect the salt. We learned about the history of slavery in Bonaire and when we saw the huts that housed them, we became present to the inhumane conditions that they lived in. We learned that the Dutch government made a formal apology in December of 2022 for its historical role in slavery across the Caribbean. On our last visit, I was unable to ever see a donkey. We learned that donkeys had been brought to the island by Spanish settlers and when transportation made donkeys obsolete, they were released and became a wild population on the island. Renny made a special effort to make sure that we got to see donkeys. One even came up and approached the car and let me pat him. I felt like that was one of the highlights of the tour! It was so much fun! On the trip we also saw many wild goats along the way. There's a beautiful spot where flamingo gather, and there was quite a crowd of them that day. We saw many lizards, including several very large iguanas. We drove through several small towns and drove along the ocean on both sides of the island. We drove up to the highest points so we could see amazing views. Bonaire is a tropical dry forest ecosystem, semi-arid. And the vegetation includes cacti, divi divi trees, agaves and beautiful flowers. We also saw a great variety of birds, including flamingos and parrots. One of the highlights was seeing Caracara Bird which is a raptor. Renny noted it sitting on top of a cactus and pulled over on the side of the road so that we could see it. He was amazing at spotting wildlife, and he often stopped the car to point it out to us. If he had just driven along, we never would've noted amazing roadside wonders. He really took the time to make sure that we got an amazing tour and the history and explanation of so many aspects of Bonaire was included at every point of the tour. We loved the tour. If we go back to Bonaire, we will definitely hire this wonderful company again. The price point is very reasonable and in comparison with the tours that were offered by our cruise ship, this was much more personal and we felt we got an extraordinary tour in a few short hours. The price point was equal to or possibly less than the cost of a Celebrity commissioned tour. Our pick up was right by the ship and we were brought back with plenty of time to board our ship and go on our way. This company is very aware of ship arrival and departure times. We had no concern about getting back to the ship on time because the vehicles we were traveling in were in excellent shape and the staff were very up-to-date on what the timing was to get us back. Thank you Renny for a great tour! We love Bonaire and we hope we can return again!

Beautiful sights, but needed experienced guide - If you want to do some beautiful sightseeing of Bonaire, this is a very good choice. There aren’t a whole lot of options like in nearby much larger Curaçao, so this is one of the better ones. Our guide was nice, but she was new to the job and worse did not have much knowledge of the history or biology or geology of Bonaire even though she was a native. On top of that, English was not her primary language and communicating wasn’t always the easiest thing to do. With a better guide, this could have been a five star experience. The sites are beautiful, it’s a good use of your time while in Bonaire. Our group was glad we went overall.

North and South Tour on Bonaire - My husband and I have mixed feelings about the tour. Our local tour guide met us at the cruise ship port. Our tour guide, Resine was very friendly and shared lots of information about the history of the island and the different sites we saw on our tour. However the vehicle left much to be desired. My husband and I were combined with some other groups for a total of ten people (not a problem). The van we were driven around in only fit exactly ten people and space was very tight. Once we reached the first location our tour guide contacted the office and they were going to send another vehicle so we could split the group up to make things more comfortable. We waited at the location for over an hour (the whole tour is only supposed to be three hours) and a vehicle showed up with two workers and seats for only three people. Because of the different groups only two people went in the second vehicle which left eight of us in this original van. There were little flies EVERYWHERE. Our tour guide gave us bug spray but it nothing to get rid of the bugs or keep them from landing on us. Resine made the best of a bad situation. She was great. However because of the time and vehicle issues we probably would not book this excursion again.
