- Kosciuszko’s Mound (Kopiec Kosciuszki) - Erected in honor of Tadeusz Kościuszko, a revered patriot and leader, this mound is one of five in Krakow.
- Monastery of the Norbertan Sisters - This formidable monastery, resembling a castle, dates back to the 12th century and has been rebuilt multiple times. It is central to Krakow’s traditions, including the annual Emmaus festival and the Lajkonik procession.
- Wawel Royal Castle - Perched on a limestone hill above the Vistula River, this historic complex was once the epicenter of power. It features a castle, sacred buildings, and the iconic Wawel dragon statue.
- Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology - The museum’s modern architecture, with its wave-like roof, is best appreciated from the river. It symbolizes the Vistula’s waves.
- Church on the Rock (Kosciol na Skalce) - This baroque church, dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Stanislaus, stands on a hill of white Jurassic limestone by the Vistula River. It serves as a national pantheon and houses a valuable library.
- The Ghetto Heroes Square - Located in the Podgórze district, this square was a key site during the Nazi occupation, where Jews were gathered for deportation. Nearby are the Eagle Pharmacy and the Enamel Factory, both significant during that era.
- Plaszow Concentration Camp - In the Podgórze district lies a haunting, undeveloped area that was once a Nazi death camp. Unlike Auschwitz, little remains, but with a guide, you can uncover its history and the stories of its prisoners. The film “Schindler’s List” was also shot here.
