Amazing day - An amazing but somber day. I chose this as I wanted to cram in as much as possible in the short time I had in Krakow. Our tour guide Simon was amazing answering any questions we had on the way to the attractions and even showed us some extra insight while waiting for our allotted tour time of the camps. Heads up you’ll be up early and it’s a long day, but it’s worth it, and recommend booking like this than waking in the queue for hours as tickets sell out fast it seems.

Never use this company - Cancelled by the company less than 12 hours before due to depart meaning no opportunity to visit Auschwitz during my stay in Krakow. Hugely disappointing and limited apology and no compensation for missed opportunity

Tour company didn't show up and no communication - Don't use this tour company. You will have pre booked plans. They overbook and if they can't accommodate you then they will let you know at closing time the night before. All over companies will be sold out, leaving you with no options. They will pretend to give you options by will not text, email or call you. If you call they won't answer

Avoid at all costs - We were completely let down by Gr8way the night before our scheduled Salt Mines and Auschwitz day tour — cancelled with less than 12 hours’ notice. There was no apology, no alternative offered, and no real explanation other than a vague mention of a “guide request” being rejected by Auschwitz — something they were clearly aware of and tried multiple times without success. Yet they still waited until the last minute to inform us. Because of this, we weren’t able to find another tour in time, which meant missing out entirely on what was supposed to be the most important part of our Kraków trip — something we had planned our whole visit around. Customer service was completely non-existent. I’ve sent multiple messages and haven’t had a single reply. An absolute disgrace — avoid at all costs.

Third Party Vendors do not have tickets in advanced! - This review is in regards to the many vendors on Trip advisor, get your guide, Viator- they do not have tickets in advanced for Auschwitz. The actual tour of auschwitz is incredible! These third party booking sites do not actually have tickets to Auschwitz and get same day tickets by queuing up. You are not guaranteed a time slot therefore they are forced to get there super early. We were informed the day before our pick up time was 4:20am- which I thought was a joke. We arrived outside to queue before the gates even opened at 5am- there was a 120 people similar tour groups in front of us. Once the property opened we stood in a queue until 8ish where we got a tour scheduled for 9am. We were able to use the loos and get a coffee (where only 2 people were working). Please make sure the tour you pick actually gets tickets and time slots in advanced. This made a long day even longer. These vendors are just drivers and use the museums guides / tours and get you from point a to point b. Please Google about the long lines at Auschwitz as we had no idea, make sure they actually get tickets in advanced!

Not as advertised! - The tour operator contacted us the day before to let us know there were changes to our booking and made it out that it was outwith their control and had no prior kowledge of this. Essentially, what they were saying was that we would have to join the general queue and this could take anywhere between 30 minutes and 3 hours - oh, and that because of this, they were going to collect us from our hotel at 4.20am! When we booked this tour, we were under the impression that they already had tickets and that we were getting a tour directly from this operator; we accepted that we would have an early start, but not the middle of the night! The message ended by saying they apologised for the inconvenience and that, if we wanted to cancel, just to let them know. We decided not to go ahead with it and informed them, to which they then replied that we had to cancel with the company we had booked with (Tripadvisor/Viator). Went online to cancel our booking to find that, because it was within 24 hours of the trip, we were not entitled to a refund. We had paid over £500 for a family of 4 for this tour! So, in trying to contact both Tripadvisor and Viator, we came up against every barrier possible. Tried to email them, it bounced back; tried to complete an online contact form, it wouldn’t let us type in the info box; tried to find a telephone number, no chance. There was no way to contact a human being at all. I had to resort to the only thing that seems to work these days - shaming them on social media. You should not have to go to these lengths. All the time I spent trying to sort this mess out, was time away from enjoying my trip with my family, which was only a couple of days and we were trying to squeeze as much in as possible. Thankfully, we received confirmation that our refund had been processed, but not until the next day and we had a worrying 24 hours where we were unsure if we had just lost over £500. Hard lesson learned - read the reviews, and book as early as possible. We had stupidly thought that as it was midweek at the end of May (outwith school holidays), we would be able to get tickets without any issues. So, when all these companies advertising through Tripadvisor were saying there were limited tickets left (at massively inflated prices), we booked it in a panic. Advice: either book yourself well in advance and just get your own transport - uber and trains are very reliable, or perhaps look at one of the tours that skips the queues, especially for Auschwitz Birkenau. My husband and daughter went under their own steam and were very disappointed at the poor organisation of the ticketing. They ended up waiting hours - arrived at 7.15am, waited 3 hours to be told that the next available tour was in another 2.5 hours time, and couldn’t get onto an English speaking tour. The tour guide they did get (Polish speaking) just abandoned them without explaining to them that they had to wait for a bus to take them to Birkenau. Very poor experience. The salt mines, however, were very organised, very slick, and highly recommended. Will definitely make sure I research more thoroughly next time and I will not be booking via Tripadvisor/Viator again.
