Kongobu-ji - Kongobuji, a testament to filial devotion, was first erected in 1593 by the illustrious Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a memorial to honor the passing of his beloved mother. Over time, this sacred structure harmoniously merged with a neighboring temple, transforming into the preeminent head temple of Shingon Buddhism. This venerable sect, introduced to the Japanese shores by the enlightened Kobo Daishi in 805, finds its spiritual epicenter on the hallowed ground of Koyasan.
