Additional Information

Step aboard Dukling, the last authentic Chinese junk boat still in regular operation in Hong Kong. Constructed in 1955, Dukling originally served as a fishing vessel for diligent fishermen. In the 1980s, it was converted into a sightseeing cruise. Despite sinking in 2014, its original structure has been preserved.

Navigating through changing tides, Dukling has observed Hong Kong’s evolution from a fishing harbor to a bustling metropolis. Symbolizing the tales of hardworking fishermen, Dukling stands as a significant emblem of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage.

Today, Dukling provides distinctive boat tours in Victoria Harbour. Embark on a journey through time by learning about Dukling’s history, the fishermen’s culture, and Hong Kong’s past through the onboard commentary. Feel the breeze and take in the breathtaking views as the oldest Chinese junk sails along both sides of the contemporary harbor.

If you’re seeking an experience beyond mere sightseeing, this boat tour is perfect for you.

Location
Starbucks (Avenue of Stars)
Salisbury Road
Wait by the shore in front of Starbucks / Wildfire Pizzabar, Avenue of Stars. The Pier is right outside these 2 restaurants where you find a flight of stairs leading down to the sea. Do NOT head to the pier near the Star Ferry and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Dukling does NOT dock at that pier.

Harbor Cruise - The tour was excellent but finding the tour guide was very difficult. The meeting place was not easy to find and the tour guide wasn’t easily recognizable. I would recommend this tour but would suggest a different meeting point or tour guide wearing a bright colored shirt holding up a sign.

Canadian Smiles - Unfortunately we had a rainy evening but the old Junket boat was quite a treat…the staff/crew did a great job getting us found in the crowds and boarded without problems. The event was well choreographed and music nicely composed. I would recommend the event.

Good Value and Good Experience - Met expectations. Great value. It is a good quick boat ride (just right amount of time) to get the feel for both the harbor and the old boat. Plenty of time for pictures. Crew was helpful and accommodating. Boarding location was exactly as described. If you are looking for a ride on a fancy, luxurious yacht, this tour isn’t for you.

A relaxing way to enjoy the views of Victoria Harbour - We squeezed this tour into our short Hong Kong layover and I’m so glad that we did. The Duckling boat was a nice and authentic way to enjoy the experience.

Good experience but beware if you have motion sickness - The boat was able to get us to good views of the skyline on both sides of the harbor. There were even free drinks included! However, beware of riding if you have motion sickness. The boat is pretty rocky, and I got headaches and nausea.

Night light trip on the Dukling - The tour was punctual and provided all that it said it would, enabling you to see the night lights on both sides of the harbour.

Nice boat but overpriced - The boat and sailing is a nice experience, but the high cost for 45 minutes to be treated like cattle in the boat. The commentary in which nobody could hear, and the music comes out of a tiny speaker. We were there in a group of 4. Was offered a cold beer, which 2 of us accepted, and the other 2 warm juice. Asked for another beer at the cost of $115 !!

Underwhelming experience - Very chaotic boarding process, not many comfortable places to sit on the boat, any time we stood up to take a photo the staff barked at us to sit down, couldn't hear the commentary from the outer sections of the boat (and it was too hot to sit under cover where the commentary could be heard) and the included drink was a warm beer or juice - overall underwhelming
