Highlights
  • Mevlana Muzesi - For Muslims and non-Muslims alike, the main reason to come to Konya is to visit the Mevlâna Museum, the former lodge of the whirling dervishes and home to the tomb of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi who lived in 13th century. This is the biggest Sufi centre in Turkey, and the building’s fluted dome of turquoise tiles is one of Turkey’s most distinctive sights.

  • Alaeddin Mosque - The Alaeddin Mosque is one of the oldest mosque in Turkey, constructed by the Seljuk Sultans of Rum between 1116-1220. Alaeddin Mosque has some interesting architectural features ,such as columns of different sizes and from earlier periods. Seljuk Palace was built during the reign of Sultan Kılıçarslan II (1156-1192).

  • Karatay Medresesi Museum - Karatay Madrasah was built in 1252 in the Seljuk period. It served as a theological school , it now houses many beautiful historical tiles.

  • Aziziye Mosque - Aziziye Mosque was originally built in the 17th century but was restored 200 years later, after it was destroyed by fire. This late renovation resulted in the mosque being reconstructed in an unusual baroque and Rococo style which contrasts sharply with other mosques.

  • Sille - Sille village dates back to 8th-7th century BC. It is an old Roman village. It is one of the early Christians’ residence with its rock carved churces. One of the primary monastries in the World is in this village ,which is known as St.Charitan ( Ak Monastry)

  • Aya Elena Kilisesi - Helena the mother of Byzantine Emperor constantine stopped in Sille during her journey to Jarussalem for pilgrimage ,saw the engraved temples and constructed this church.

  • Sems-i Tebrizi Tomb & Mosque - Shams-i Tabrizi was the spiritual guide, inspiration and companion of Mevlâna Celaleddin Rumî. The tomb of Shams-i Tabrizi is one of the most important place to visit.

Brilliant tour thanks to Fatima - Mete organised Fatima to take us around Konya. She was impressive with her knowledge on several subjects and historical aspects of Konya. The restaurant she took us to for lunch was amazing. What was most impressive was that she tailored the tour to suit us. I highly recommend her. Also Mete organised transport for me from Konya to Antalya at amazing prices compared to everybody else. 5 star service…

Excellent guide and museum visits - Mete arranged a wonderful guide named Hayri. Hayri grew up with the kids of American personnel on a US military base in Turkey and knew English very well as a result. He also knew his Konya history and much about Rumi and the philosophy of Sufism as well. Great museums and neighborhoods on this tour. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic and Informative - I was traveling with my girlfriends and we booked this 7 hour tour as a way to see Konya and understand a bit more about the Sufi religion and history. It was well worth it and provided context and background information. Mete was professional in handling our tour and in his communications. Since our tour was on a Monday there were several sites that were closed so he provided alternative stops for us to review ahead of time which was helpful to our group of 3 and the added stops did not disappoint. Our guide Yunus was informative and interesting throughout the trip. We walked from site to site and he explained in detail the history of the Sufi's, Konya and Turkish life. The Mevlana Muzesi was stunning and we enjoyed it immensely. The Karatay Medresesi Museum was also an amazing place with so much information. We were parched by that point and Yunus kindly bought us water. One of the added on places was the Konyanuma Panorama Museum which was filled with paintings depicting Rumi's life and journey from Iran to Konya. It was well done and contained a lot of information and we highly recommend it to added to the regular tour. Another added on site for us was the Konya Büyükşehir Belediyesi Taş Bina... formerly a girls teacher training school, it is now a digital experience and cultural arts center. The center delved into the history of Konya and was fascinating and well done.. again it should be part of the regular tour! We truly enjoyed our day walking with Yunus and Mete's skillful driving to our meeting point and to the village of Sille. Highly recommend this tour!!

Excellent tour - The tour was excellent. The guide was knowledgeable and very cooperative. I went with my parents who are 65+ and 75+ and my daughter who is 9. They were very understanding and patient and designed the whole tour keeping our comfort in mind. The lunch place was excellent as well. Overall, I had a very good experience and recommend them to anyone who is interested in touring Konya.

Highly recommend if you want to learn about Mevlana Rumi and Konya - Mete Horzum and Selene Travel do an excellent job and I highly recommend scheduling a tour with them if you plan to visit the blessed city of Konya. We did the “Highlights of Konya” tour. Because we have small children and due to unforeseen travel issues, we had to make last minute adjustments to our tour, but Mete and his team were extremely accommodating. We also made special requests as needed to accommodate our schedule. Selene Travel tour guides have a long history with the city of Konya and have an incredible amount of knowledge of Mevlana Rumi. If you gave an interest in learning about Mevlana Rumi and the history of Konya, Selene Travel will not disappoint. Also, some tips for tourists who are also visiting Istanbul during your travels to Türkiye — I would recommend shopping in Konya instead. Konya has some incredible shops run by local artisans. Also, general shopping for clothing, gifts, etc. is much better priced in Konya. Selene Travel can provide some recommendations if needed.
