Highly recommended day out - Excellent day out with our tour guide who was super, especially with the kids! Three hour drive from Hua Hin. Boat ride to two snorkelling spots. Great buffet lunch at the resort followed by a visit to the turtle conservation project and then some free time at the beach. It was a long day. We left the Anantara hotel before 7am and arrived back at 8pm, but worth it!

Lovely Private Island - A must tour if you’re in Hua Hin or close to the area. They provide full service, from pick up at your hotel to the boat to/from the island and a feast for lunch. It’s very organized, on time, and the staff were courteous. There were only 6 of us in the tour and we had the island to ourselves. The beach was clean and calm and good for swimming. The staff provides you with a beach lounger and even asked if we want to be driven back to main lounge for the lunch. They have an area where you can snorkel and dive, 2 beach areas and they even have a sort of turtle sanctuary/breeding area. It’s worth the money and the time to visit the island resort.

Nice day trip away from Hua Hin with snorkelling and great food! - Had a seamless pickup and trip to the harbour about 2.5 hours south of Hua Hin where we were greeted by the tour operator and given access to tea, coffee, water and toast if wanted. We boarded the large speed boat for the transfer to the island about 20 minutes away. Once at the island we transferred to a large floating barge which had excellent shaded areas to place our possessions. At the time we were there we were the only group (about 10 people) so had no issues with crowds. We spent 40 minutes or so snorkelling in the first location and even though there were some green algae in the water the visibility was good, and we were able to see clearly enough. The corals and sea life was abundant and the fish were the least skittish I have experienced allowing us to float around with schools of fish within centimetres. Many varieties of coral, fish and shellfish including large, living cowry shells! A large ship with many tourists onboard arrived in the location just as we were finishing and moving to our second spot for snorkelling. This place contained different corals and fish life from the first, this spot was also interesting and provided better visibility. After about another 40 minute snorkel we boarded the barge and were taken to the island dock and moved to the island resort for lunch. Lunch was amazing! A huge amount of food all served separately to each group from the tour including two separate prawn dishes. There was a bar available and the prices of drinks was reasonable given the location and the captive audience as there is no other option. After lunch we had about 90 minutes of free time on the island. We were able to visit an area set aside with large concrete tanks which house turtles hat were being raised as part of a conservation program. Each tank held turtles at different stages of development ranging in size from about 4 cm to about 25 cm. We chose to go for a swim and snorkel out from the island's beach where we saw yet different fish species. When we visited the island there were only the 10 or so people from our tour group there so it was very quiet. There didn't appear to be any resort guests at that time and 90 minutes was more than enough time. After this we boarded a smaller but still fast speed boat back to the mainland and transferred back to Hua Hin. The whole fay was about 11.5 hours but still very enjoyable. The villages on the drive there and back offer a different view of this part Of Thailand than that experienced in more urbanised and developed centres like Hua Hin and Bangkok.

Koh Thalu - We got pick up by driver who can’t speak English so he didn’t say anything when we try to ask him some questions regarding the tour or why the police stop our shuttle. We did some snorkeling which just fine, the people on the boat nice and friendly. When we got to the Koh Thalu, supposedly for lunch, we found very disappointed, the food almost gone, we have to scrap from hot plate because was buffet style. They added some stuff like white rice and rice noodles. When my husband asked them about add more for one dishes, they brought him different dishes and my husband can’t eat because all fat and cold. The good thing we brought some nuts snacks, my husband diabetic, he can’t just eat rice and noodles.
