Wonderful Authentic Time with a Local - Although I was initially skeptical I could get a great tour at such a great price, I decided to take a chance on an adventurous afternoon in a tuk tuk in Kochi and I am so glad that I did. Niyas speaks excellent English and customized the tour to my tastes, often going above and beyond for me in order to make sure the tour ran as smoothly as possible. I never felt as if he was just "doing his job." He treated us like his personal guests and made sure we were genuinely happy to see his city with him. It was as if you had a personal friend in the city that was showing you around while you were visiting. He took us beyond the typical local tourists spots we had already seen. I truly saw the local perspective as we went to genuine local markets, a historical church and temples I would not have known about without him, and even ended the day with the perfect spot to watch the sunset at the beach. I highly recommend him to anyone visiting the area for one day or more!

Excellent Tour Guide and Driver - Niyas is the real deal. I told him that we didn't want to do tourist trap items and wow... he really delivered. We did a whirlwind tour of all the good stuff without a single rug factory, or perfume pitch. The highlight of my trip was the spice distributor we went to. This was not a regular tourist place, it was where locals can buy bulk spices at great prices and excellent quality. Not a single tourist was there. We sampled and then got some unbelievable deals. The workers were friendly and we had a few jokes with them. We wanted to go to a Hindu temple but they are largely restricted to outsiders. Niyas showed us some great places to take pictures and then took us to a smaller temple where we were warmly welcomed inside. Again, we were the only tourists amongst the locals. Finally Niyas took us to the beach and recommended a place to get a beer. We drank our beer overlooking the Arabian Sea and then walked a short distance to a great local restaurant for some authentic Indian food. We texted Niyas when we were done and he came to get us and then took us back home. There are many tour guides and many tuk tuks in Kochi, but Niyas is fun, safe and really customized our tour for what we wanted. Highly recommended!

A Truely Amazing Tour Guide (and now Friend) - Our tour guide and driver, Manu, was just amazing. His knowledge of the area and his flexibility meant after our first outing with him he became our permanent tour guide while we were in Kochi. Manu combined the usual tourist attractions with off-the-beaten track visits he knew we'd enjoy. He also introduced us to local stalls and markets where we bought fresh produce and unique gifts. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Manu's family and having a wonderful farewell meal at his home with family and friends. Our flight home departed from Coimbatore and Manu arranged a taxi driver for us and accompanied us on the trip which was amazing. We are still in contact with Manu and his family who made our time in Kochi magical. Thanks Manu!

Fort Kochi area tour - Yesterday we met Aslam Pattalm as we returned from another excursion. He introduced himself and we agreed to a tour from 09:00 this morning. He was waiting for us as we left the port. We went across to the Fort Kochi area and saw a number of sights. There was plenty of time for photos at each stop. The only drawback to be aware of is they seem to have a number of agreements to take you to specific government licensed tourist shops. We went to three but we did get a very good value selection of spices from one of them. Indian traffic is mad and Aslam made his way through both safely and positively negotiating the chaos.
