Serious Concern - Be VERY cautious - ***BE VERY CAUTIOUS*** We booked this tour through GetYourGuide. Our tour was scheduled to happen yesterday, Fri 18 Jan. We were scheduled to be picked up at 0800. I confirmed this with the owner, Muhammad earlier in the week. At 0812 we had not seen the car. I reached out to Milkway via WhatsApp and was asked to wait a few minutes, they were calling the driver. After another 10 minutes, I was told that the driver/guide took the wrong car, a sedan and forgot we were a party of 4. I was asked to wait until 10AM to be picked up. The driver had to come from Osaka to Kyoto. At 1003 a man showed up in an extended sedan. No introduction, no apology for the 2 hour delay. Very small space for 4 adults to sit in and to be on a 10 hour tour. I asked Ali, the driver why didn’t he have a van. He said this was the only car available. My 6’1” son came to the car and looked inside and said he wasn’t going in that car. His knees would have been in his stomach. The car also smelled like cigarettes. Ali said it could hold up to 5 people and then immediately ran around the car and got in the driver's seat and took off. I very fortunately was able to get a picture of the license plate and vehicle. I immediately called who I believe is the owner and told him of this unacceptable situation and condition and asked for a refund. He was adamant that this car could hold 7 passengers. Absolutely not. This car is designed to hold up to 3 adults and possibly 2 children comfortably. He refused to give a refund. I called GetYourGuide and within 1 hour they issued a full refund. GetYourGuide is an elite service with excellent customer care and commitment. Today we were on a private tour in Kyoto. I explained to our driver/guide about yesterday’s incident. He asked what color the license plate was. It’s WHITE. I showed him the picture. 1. He explained that it’s illegal to represent yourself as a driver/guide driving a car with a WHITE license plate. 2. He knew exactly of this car and the driver Ali. Said he’s caused some issues here in Kyoto. 3. He also explained that Milkyway Tours is acting illegally and carry’s no insurance so if something were to happen you, the client would have no recourse. Very scary in so many ways. I’m so thankful we did not get into that black Honda Odyssey, license plate ending in 3507.
