Easy way to travel with out any effort if you are going to various places and don't want to use the local buse's - a great bus that does (exactly what it says on the tin !) hop on and hop off at different stops in the city on the red route and into Amoudara on the blue route , red route covers the city area and stops off at all the main attractions including Knossos place. we paid 20 euros each for a 48 hr ticket , i understand you can get different deals and prices. costs more than the normal city bus but is a lot easier and convenient , it also has information( tour guide ) played via ear phones that you plug in with different languages .

HoHo Bus, Knossos Palace Ruins.s - HoHo Bus was reserved for those booking this Viator experience. There were other HoHo buses for those booking on the day. Got off at Knos Palace Ruins, surface challenging & worth booking a Guide from those that hang around the entrance gate.

Good but small improvement possible. - The tour could tell a bit more about the history of the island and what is in front of you. Greetings and go neutrally clear that in the season time it can also come to delay but also not correctly to point to a time where nothing comes!

Disappointing and only one route running for 20 euros per person - We have done the HOHO bus tour in many cities - this one, on a day in port Heraklion from our cruise ship, was poor and a total waste of 40 euros. The drive round the outside of the city was underwhelming. The promenade/fortress was on the doorstep anyway, as was the city centre, that was pleasant. Highlight of the city, Knossos, would have been a short taxi, 15 min walk or included in a tour price with pick-up. The second (beach) route was not running and some of the city route was on the other side of the same road with the commentary repeated. The price was the same for the city route alone as for the two routes in season. Considering it was sunny and about 25° with a few ships in port, it might have been appropriate to have run both routes or halved the cost which would have made it more realistically priced. Very disappointing - don't waste your money

Think twice on the boon hop off in Crete - Think twice maybe three times before buying this ticket. First, getting off the Princess Cruise ship a kiosk for purchasing hop on hop off tickets were located. That’s the good news. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait for our shuttle to downtown Chania town. Try 40 minutes. Then we get downtown (of which you must exit the shuttle ) and wait 45 minutes for the actual hop on hop off. We waited an extra 50 minutes after the 45 minute notice. When the shuttle arrived (of which we learned they only have 2 for the entire route) it was full and nobody would dare risk getting off for fear they wouldn’t be able to get back on. The tour- not much to see quite frankly. The people of Crete are exceptionally nice but feel bad for this rundown area with immense graffiti everywhere. If your going to the old town- take the ship shuttle- we wanted to see the “bigger picture” of Chania and Crete. So thought the hop on hop off would be a great way. Don’t do it. Can’t even imagine what it must be like in summer. Think we’ll stay on ship next time and have a spa day.
