Journey from Kampala/Entebbe to Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park - Begin the journey to Kidepo with a lunch stop in Gulu town. Continue traveling past Kitgum town, traversing Karamojaland until reaching Kidepo Valley National Park. The park boasts stunning savannah landscapes that culminate in a rugged horizon. Its vast latitudinal range and diverse climatic conditions have fostered an incredibly varied flora. Unique bird species such as the Ostrich, Kori Bustard, and Secretary Bird can be found here, with a total of 463 bird species. Overnight stay at Apoka Rest Camp.
Two Game Drives
Kidepo Valley National Park - After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive. Expect to see animals unique to the African savannah, including giraffes, antelopes, lions, elephants, hyenas, buffaloes, and Uganda Kobs. The magnificent Kidepo River Valley, dominated by Borassus palm forest, offers a striking savannah landscape and a breathtaking view of the Narus Valley in the park’s southwest. To the north, the Lotukei Mountains and the Morongole Range mark the park’s southern boundary, ending the trail at the Kanangorok Hot Springs, where various fauna, such as the tall Ostrich, can be observed. Return to the park bandas for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, embark on another evening game drive to explore the area’s diverse wildlife. Witness herds of buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of birds like ostriches and herons, or visit the Kanangorok Hot Springs. Return to Apoka Rest Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Another Game Drive in a Different Area
Kidepo Valley National Park - Enjoy morning and evening game drives in the park, exploring the area’s diverse wildlife. The game drive offers opportunities for bird watching and spotting rare bird and animal species such as cheetahs, hunting dogs, bat-eared foxes, striped hyenas, gazelles, zebras, Rothschild’s giraffes, and various antelope species including roan antelope, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, and Jackson’s hartebeest. Other wildlife includes buffaloes, elands, bushbucks, waterbucks, elephants, and jackals. By the end of the tour, you’ll understand why their pride makes them slow to adapt to the changing world, and their love for cattle is comparable to the well-known Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. Return for an overnight stay at Apoka Rest Camp.
Return to Kampala
Entebbe - After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. Stop for lunch along the way and continue the journey. Arrival will be in the evening, followed by a transfer to Entebbe airport for the evening flight home.
