Ōasa (大朝) — a must-do in Hiroshima - Contrary to "city stress", I was able to switch off a bit in the beautiful landscape of 大朝 (Oasa). Also the food in the herb garden was excellent! In addition, I can recommend everyone in the area to take time for the Chinese Tea House. The tour is well structured with certain individualization options. Travelling by bus also worked without any problems and can be paid for directly with the IC card. Will definitely come back!

Authentic insight into Japanese life away from the crowds of tourists - By JR Chugoku Bus (comfortable bus; free for JR Pass holders) it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Hiroshima Station to get to the meeting point. During the bus ride you can enjoy nature away from the city of Hiroshima. Arriving at the meeting point, you are already expected by the guide Jonah. Jonah speaks very good English and is extremely friendly and accommodating! The e-bikes are then issued and instructed. I don't want to reveal the exact content of the tour here but it's worth it! You can explore the surrounding area in a small group of relaxed whites and get an insight into rural Japanese life and agriculture. All questions about land and people are answered willingly and comprehensively by Jonah. Initially we were skeptical, but can highly recommend the tour and would do it again at any time. Perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the cities for a day.

If you are visiting Hiroshima, we would like you to extend your trip a little and participate. What impressed me was the view point overlooking the town and the pleasant cycling. I fell in love with this town because I saw the story of the town connected with it.^^ I'd love to join another season! Yona and Tagawa's guide was also Good!!

Highly Recommend - I highly recommend this bicycling tour. It was definitely the highlight of our trip! The town we rode through is absolutely beautiful, and Jonah was an excellent guide. His English is perfect, and we learned so much from him. He gave information and told stories about the different places and landmarks along the way, and it was a great way to learn more about Japanese culture outside the touristy areas. We met several people from the community along the tour, and they were all so interesting and fun to get to know. The lunch in the middle was amazing as well! The chef put so much love into her food, and she was able to accommodate my food allergies. It was the best meal we had in Japan! Thanks so much, Jonah, for an amazing day!

Great tour guide and beautiful countryside - Great time with Jonah, (he's actually Japanese!) who speaks perfect English. e-bikes were adequate for getting up the big hills. Great scenery and lucky enough to meet some of the residents and businesses in Oasa. Lunch was one the highlights. Next time we will visit in the fall when we can see some color. It would be amazing. Their shuttle van came and got us at the bus top from Hiroshima and took us directly to the bike shop. Bikes were easy to operate. Hardly any cars around so navigating the streets was safe. There were multiple outings we could have done, and Jonah noted, after describing all of the things you can see, that we could alter our tour to see something else if we wanted. Would recommend this biking tour of Oasa and the surrounding area. It was also nice to be able to support local operators who personally have a stake in the business.

A must do! - A real highlight of my two week holiday in Japan! So pleased we got to experience this really beautiful part of Japan, outside of the city and away from the crowds. The scenery is incredible! The e-bikes were great and made our adventure much easier. Jonah was a brilliant guide and is rightly very proud of this beautiful place. We loved it and would strongly recommend it!

Cycling through rice fields, forests, old farmhouses, mountain views, loved it! - This is a lovely way to experience the Japanese countryside and rice farming traditions far from the crowds. This excursion was a highlight of our trip, and Jonah our guide (fluent English) made it fun and memorable. The al fresco farm to table lunch was an added treat with views of snow capped mountains and the tastiest tempura of the trip. Johah has lots of itinerary options depending on your interests. You can easily day-trip it from Hiroshima city.

Wonderful bike tour - It was a beautiful and interesting bike ride through the lonely and breathtaking hinterland. The guide spoke perfect English and was super likable. All in all, we can only recommend this tour, especially if you want to have a break from the overflowing cities.

A great day in the country with an experienced guide. - Our cycling tour of Owasa with Jonah was 100% the highlight of our trip to Japan. It was so easy to get to the meeting spot via one bus from Hiroshima and Jonah was there to meet us. The bikes provided were excellent and it wasn’t long before we were off to see the fall colours outside of town. After the fall colours we biked to the top of a mountain and enjoyed incredible views and some classic 80’s songs on Jonah’s portable speaker. A highlight of the day was a visit with a rice farmer. We received a generous tour of his farm and were shown how they harvest and dry the rice for next years planting. The farmer is 90 years old and seems like he has another 90 years in him yet. We stopped at a rural property for lunch - the food was fantastic and they were able to address our food restrictions. If you like tempura, you’ll want to visit this restaurant! Jonah was well prepared with local history and is clearly passionate about the Owasa area. If you are thinking of including a day in the country on your trip to Japan, put this outing at the top of your list.
