Amazing scenery - The scenes are spectacular and worth ever euro. The walk is slightly challenging going up hill, you still are requested to walk the steepest portions when taking the carriage ride. The carriage is an additional charge so rather odd when ask to get out and walk? Still spectacular!!

Amazing tours! - We had such a wonderful time. I can’t say enough good things about this tour. We took two tours with Deros while in Killarney and it was worth every penny. Would 100% recommend this tour to anyone!

Magical Experience - We booked our tour in Killarney at the Deros Tour office and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip. A short van ride takes you from Killarney to Kate Kearney’s Cottage. You can then hike the 7 miles through the Gap to Lord Brandon's Cottage for lunch, or you can hire a pony and carriage for €35 per person to make the crossing. This fee is paid directly to the driver and is not included in the tour price. We opted for the pony and carriage, which allowed us to fully enjoy the stunning scenery without the physical strain of the hike. After traveling through the breathtaking landscape of the Gap of Dunloe and down into The Black Valley, we boarded a motorboat that carried us along the winding Gearhameen River and across the Upper, Middle, and Lower Lakes of Killarney, ending at Ross Castle. The scenery was absolutely magical and stunning, and while we did get a little wet on the boat ride, the views more than made up for it. I recommend bringing a light rain jacket to stay comfortable in the cool mountain air and breezy lake crossings. It was a truly unforgettable adventure from start to finish.

Interesting tour! - The Gap of Dunloe was a great tour. We did it in reverse order. We did the lakes from Ross castle first. We stopped for a bite to eat at the cottage then on the jaunty cart. Our boatman made sure to get us a cart. There was no confusion. The only problem for the day was the people that insisted on driving through on a bank holiday. They caused numerous traffic jams. Not the tour companies fault. When we got to Kate’s cottage we had some time there for refreshments. Deros company picked us back up for our trip back to town.

Really great day out and beautiful views . - We had a lovely sunny day so that really was the ideal way to do this well organized tour . Our carriage through the Gap was driven by Tom and hauled by 12 yr old Bob with style and humour with no hassle or haggling over the standard charge .We had plenty of time in Lord Brandon's cottage for coffee and a snack before our boat trip which really was the highlight..to see beautiful parts of the National Park from the water . We never caught our boatman's name but he was a very entertaining and experienced man indeed . He did a great job of training the sika deer to appear as we passed , apparently . Arrived at Ross Castle and indeed our bus was there waiting to drop us back ...all very smooth .

Brilliant way to see the Gap of Dunloe - This was a great tour, your bus to Kate Kearney cottage and the boat tour afterwards are covered. Once you get to the gap of Dunloe you can either walk it or pay €35pp to get a jaunting car. Both the bus driver and boat driver were brilliant, funny and knowledgeable. Our only complaint was that you have a two hour wait for the boat if you’ve used the jaunting car, however there is a cafe serving food.

Gap of Dunloe not to be missed - I had booked on line from Canada and found the meet up in Killarney easy to find. The day’s weather was spectacular. My travel companion opted to do the 11 km walk through the gap. I wanted the Jaunting car( horse and cart.) Clearly stated by Deros that 35 euros goes to driver of cart as it is a separate business. But…because I was a solo woman I feel anyone in my position should be warned. Even though I clearly said I would gladly share a cart, my driver wanted 50 euros. I refused and had to decide what to do , as boat portion of Deros tour left at 2:15. I could not be late. I agreed reluctantly to 45 Euros. My cart driver sulked and basically grunted at me the whole ride to the boat. I did let Deros know at end of day. The boat ride was wonderful. Beautiful and informative. I had packed a lunch and enjoyed the hour or so waiting for the boat. Killarney National park is a wonderful experience, just be aware if you are solo.

Painful beauty - As beautiful as the scenery was as we walked the Gap and boated through the lakes, we suffered a great deal of pain — and confusion. We were unaware, until we were on the initial bus, that we would either have to walk seven miles or pay an additional 70 Euros to ride the trail on a horse-drawn cart. The description did mention walking on a trail or riding by horse cart, but made it seem like an optional spur along the tour — not an essential leg of the tour. We did walk it, but ended up in a lot of pain. We finally reached the boats, which took us through the beautiful lakes. Our pilot, however, was much less competent than the pilot of the other boat, and we got stuck three times on rocks. When we got off the boats for what should have been a short portage, our entire group got lost because of poor directions, which added at least another mile of painful walking. We strongly suggest the tour company make it unavoidably plain in the description that this is a strenuous tour — the required seven-mile walk (or 70 Euros price of the horse cart) should be front and center. Also, since no tour guides accompany travelers on the walk or the portage, the tour company should distribute brochures to each traveler, with maps, clear directions, and descriptions of what to see along the trail and portage.
