- Khlong Toei Market - This distinctive half-day tour departs daily at 08:00 and 13:00 hrs from FYI Center, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand. The guide will be waiting with a sign displaying your name.
The tour begins with a walk to Talat Klongtoey, the largest fresh market in Bangkok and one of the city’s most genuine. It draws a diverse range of shoppers, from street food vendors to chefs from Bangkok’s top five-star hotel restaurants. The market resembles a small town within the city, featuring a network of stalls offering everything from fresh fruits, herbs, and vegetables, to meat, insects, live frogs, ducks, chickens, clothing, and a myriad of other items.
- Chao Phraya River - Following the market visit, the journey continues with a short tuk-tuk ride to the pier, where a longtail boat is boarded to cross the Chao Phraya River, known as the ‘River of Kings’.
Upon disembarking on the opposite side of the river, it feels as though one has entered a completely different world. There are no high-rise buildings, minimal traffic, and an abundance of trees and plants. Welcome to Bangkok’s ‘Green Lung’!
- Bangkachao - Largely undiscovered by tourists, this area offers a respite from Bangkok’s traffic and noise, with the sounds of singing birds and a refreshing breeze while cycling on tranquil backroads and hidden pathways. It provides a glimpse into the local lifestyle, far removed from the bustling tourist hotspots. The cycling route passes banana trees and coconut plantations, local stilt houses, and includes a stop at a non-touristy Buddhist temple. A delicious Thai meal (Pad Thai – Thai noodles or Khao Pad – fried rice) is enjoyed at a local restaurant before proceeding to a well-kept public park to feed the fish. With some luck, one might spot the park’s famous residents, the large monitor lizards, which, despite their intimidating appearance, are harmless.
Regrettably, it is time to cycle back to the pier and return across the river to the vibrant city of Bangkok. Upon arrival, assistance with a taxi back to your hotel will be provided.
