Great day! - We had a great time with Cindy as our guide. She was very informative, compassionate, and accommodating. My husband has mobility issues, so we took along a wheelchair which we put in the back of the vehicle. Cindy helped with the chair and even stayed with my husband while our son and I explored a bit. Her local knowledge allowed us to hit the high spots and skirt the crowds. It made for a relaxing and stress-free day of exploring the beautiful Black Hills.

Unforgettable Mount Rushmore Tour with GeoFunTrek! - Our family of four had an absolutely phenomenal experience with GeoFunTrek, booked through Viator. Our guide, Chris, was exceptional - his deep local knowledge and personal stories brought the Black Hills to life. The tour was perfectly paced and full of highlights: • The Doane Robinson Tunnel. When we exited the vehicle and looked through the tunnel, it perfectly framed Mount Rushmore. It was a fantastic picture taking opportunity! • Up-close encounters with wildlife (bison herd, pronghorn, burros, whitetail deer). The herd of several hundred bison was right next to the roadway and we had to stop to let them cross the road. There were also 20 or so wild burros in the same section and they also were right next to the road, making for a great video opportunity. The pronghorn antelope we saw at another point in the tour were a bit further away but still within excellent picture taking range. • Climbing the stairs and exploring Mount Rushmore. This was the highlight of our trip! Chris provided us with a tremendous amount of historical information and super interesting stories. We traversed the wooden walkway and stairs in front (and below) the sculptures, where we could seed the phenomenal detail and craftsmanship of the work. • Crazy Horse Monument. The story and monument of Crazy Horse was impressive. This monument is taller than Mount Rushmore but will not be fully completed for many years to come. The view of this sculpture from the pavilion is the profile of Crazy Horse and there is a separate tour by a different company needed to get close and see a frontal view of the sculpture. • Breathtaking views at Needles Highway. The drive down this highway had breathtaking scenery! We also saw the lake the was used in National Treasure 2 that was claimed to be at the top of Mount Rushmore. Chris's expertise shone through as he navigated us to the best viewpoints and shared fascinating historical insights. He even recommended a great lunch spot at Custer State Lodge. GeoFunTrek's attention to detail was impressive - from prompt pickup at our campsite to providing snacks and water throughout the day. We had ample time to soak in the sights and browse souvenir shops. If you want a personalized, in-depth tour of the Black Hills that goes beyond the typical tourist experience, look no further than GeoFunTrek. It's clear why this family-owned business comes so highly recommended. An unforgettable day that exceeded all expectations!

Absolutely awsome - The “Gide” made all the difference. We could have toured by ourselves but the Gide was worth every penny. He added so much to the entire experience. GO geofuntrek.com

The BEST private Rushmore tour! Excellent end to end - Look no further than GeoFunTrek tours! This was the pinnacle of our week long WY/SD journey. Our guide, Cindy, was amazing! She knew all the perfect spots for pictures away from the crowd and provided rich, informative, and entertaining history along the way. We saw a wide variety of wildlife - deer, pronghorn, bison, and prairie dogs as she knew just where/when to go. She was also friendly, professional, and punctual. She was right on time for pick up and dropped us off when expected, but we were never rushed along. She routinely invited us to set the pace to linger or move more quickly. I’ve done tours all over the world and this one was among the BEST in terms of experience and service!

Excellent tour - must do this! - This was an excellent tour and so well worth the money! Chris was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and accommodating. Very pleasant to be around. Safe driver in comfortable roomy SUV and provided us with a lot of great history and tips at the sites we visited. He really enhanced our stay and experience in visiting this area. In addition, when we booked the tour the owner (Chris's father) willingly spent time with me on the phone giving me restaurant recommendations in Rapid City as we were staying there for 6 nights. On our tour we started the day with a pick up at our hotel and set off to Mt. Rushmore. Chris started by telling us all about the history of hour Mt. Rushmore came to be on the trip out. Then we did a quick trip up Iron Mountain road for a very unique view of Mt Rushmore - I won't spoil it for you but it was super cool and unique. We travelled to Mt. Rushmore and parked right outside the gate in the tour area which was very nice. We were offered water and snacks as needed. Chris then let us take in the site and asked if we wanted to do the loop. He accompanied us - gave us enough information and our own space but guided through the site. We took in the optional short video and stopped at gift shop. From there we headed to Crazy Horse and Chris again told us this history behind it's creation and ongoing efforts. He dropped us off and let us know how to approach out visit and what to expect. We were allowed time to walk the museum and grounds. Again snacks and water. From there went went into the town of custer and had lunch at a local restaurant and Chris accompanied us. We enjoyed our conversation - he is very personable. Finally we set off for Custer State park, more history and information on what we would see. We first enjoyed lake Custer views then set up on needles highway - WOW! This is a must see. We continued through the park to the visitor's center where Chris stopped to see where the local wild life was gathering that day. We then set off to view the wildlife and it was plentiful. We were safe (in our SUV) but the Bison were literally right next to us - we could have touched them. So immersive. We also saw Antelope, Wild Donkey and praire dogs. We then were driven back to our hotel around 4-4:30. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour!!

Must do!!! - Hard to pick one. Everyone should visit Mt Rushmore. The winding roads and narrow tunnels made me glad a professional was driving. Driving down dusty gravel road and having to stop because bison were crossing in front of us. A VERY memorable day.

Beyond awesome - The untold back stories and relatively unknown facts shared by John were amazing. His cowboy poetry recitations were a fun treat as well. We had an awesome experience and would have missed out on so much had we tried to do this without the tour.

Experience of a Lifetime in the Black Hills - We had been wanting to go out to South Dakota for many years as my husband and his children had never been but I had and had spectacular memories of the monuments and the parks. When I was putting together an itinerary, I suggested that we take a private tour of the "BIG bigs" so we could maximize our time, our learnings and so my husband wouldn't have to drive after driving in from Chicago the day before. John called us the day before to set everything up and the morning of our tour, he was there on time and with everything he could possibly need to make us comfortable for the day! He had water, snacks - everything! We departed from our hotel and along the way, John told us about him and his long history in the area which certainly make him a credible tour guide! But more so, he knew ALL the history and shared it with us in a way that was interesting and engaging. When we arrived at Mount Rushmore, John said he would grab some umbrellas and although it didn't look like rain, he was right! And he had umbrellas for us all and a back up plan for us to check out a super cool video about Mount Rushmore which I might have otherwise skipped. But I was so glad I didn't! John's tour was flexible and allowed us to decide where we wanted to spend more time. He was incredibly kind and ensured that he looked hard and asked everyone and took us around until we finally saw some bison. He knew a lot about those too! But certainly, I think that the most memorable part of this entire tour (besides the sights!) was his cowboy poetry, which stays with us. His ability to recall and recite such impactful poetry was something I'll never forget - And I've done more to look up additional poetry by the same author. It was impressive but impactful and something neither my family nor I will ever forget. The cost was 1000% worth it as the my family and I agreed that was the best day. Not just for the sights, but for what we learned and what we took from it - A great testament to John's contribution to our day. I know that we would have had a good day seeing these things, but John made it a day we'll never forget. I cannot recommend ENOUGH! Thank you for this wonderful memory!

John our guide was very nice and very informative of different things. - Seeing Mount Rushmore in person!! Pictures you see in books doesn’t show the actual beauty of it. Walking thru it was great. Wish the Crazy Horse tour had the bus ride up closer to it.
