NAIROBI – MASAI MARA (Approx: 265kms- 5 hrs)

Maasai Mara National Reserve - As the journey progresses, the landscape becomes more dramatic upon entering the Great Rift Valley escarpment. There will be stops along the way to refresh and admire the remarkable features of the escarpment.

The journey continues down to the valley floor, exploring the picturesque scenery through Masai territory, possibly catching sight of the vibrant herdsmen as the reserve nears.

Arrival at the Masai Mara is expected around lunchtime, with a meal at the selected accommodation.

Prepare to be amazed by the vastness and vibrant wildlife populations of this magnificent reserve. Renowned as one of the world’s greatest ecosystems, it offers unmatched wildlife diversity. Both predators and herbivores, large and small, inhabit the rolling hills and savannahs of this stunning park.

The initial game drive will introduce the abundance and variety of wildlife to be encountered during the three-day stay in the park.

FULL DAY – MASAI MARA

Maasai Mara National Reserve - An early start is planned to observe the park’s rich wildlife, reputed to be the densest in the region. The day will be filled with unlimited game drives across the golden plains and past the iconic acacia trees.

Keep an eye out for Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The birdlife is also plentiful, and if visiting during the Great Migration season (July – October), prepare to witness the largest animal movement on Earth.

Primarily consisting of wildebeest and zebra, the migrating animals cross into the park by the thousands at the Mara River, which is also home to hippos and lurking crocodiles. The potential drama is palpable as the herds stream into these lands for fresh grasses while predators lie in wait.

To enrich the Masai Mara experience, an optional visit to a local village is available. Here, visitors can meet the Maasai and observe their lifestyle firsthand.

Another optional activity is an early morning hot air balloon ride over the reserve. Witness the park below as it awakens, with fields lighting up and wildlife beginning a new day on the savannah. A breathtaking experience – simply ask the driver/guide to arrange either or both activities.
